Bottom Line

The 55-room Internacional Design Hotel is a stylish, trendy boutique right in the heart of the city center. Rooms are divided into four different categories -- Zen, Urban, Pop, Tribe -- all with distinct decor styles and vibes, but with the same wonderful amenities, including Nespresso coffeemakers, Sony flat-screen TVs, Ritual toiletries, and jetted shower/tub combos. But Zen Rooms feel more generic than zen, and Cocoon and Small rooms are, well, small. Hotel features include a solid organic restaurant, a multi-purpose space that doubles as a business center, and a wine bar with workshops. But what really sets this hotel apart is the innovative design and concept, and its central location on Rossio Square.

Location

On Rossio Square, walking distance to most major attractions and public transportation

Map of Internacional Design Hotel

The Internacional Design Hotel has a great location right on Rossio, one of the city’s main squares since the 13th century. The square is lined with restaurants and local stores, and is one of the must-sees in the city center. This central location is great for exploring the sights on foot, and most of the major attractions are within walking distance, including the Bairro Alto, the Praca do Comercio, and even St. George’s Castle and Alfama neighborhood.

There are many tourist-y places and restaurants tend to be more expensive than in other parts of town, but other less crowded areas with more variety are just a short walk away. For longer distances, the Rossio metro station and several bus and tram lines can be found less than a block away.

  • 16-minute drive to Lisbon Portela Airport
  • On Rossio Square, also known as Dom Pedro IV
  • Half a block from Rossio metro stop
  • 2-minute walk to the Santa Justa historic elevator, with great views
  • 7-minute walk to Praca do Comercio, a beautiful plaza facing the river
  • 11-minute walk to Casa dos Bicos
  • 12-minute walk to St. George's Castle
  • 18-minute walk to Alfama, or 10 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute subway ride to Eduardo VII Park
  • 9-minute drive to the National Museum of Ancient Art, or 20 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to the National Coach Museum, the largest museum of royal coaches in the world
  • 17-minute drive to the Belem Tower
  • 17-minute drive to the Jeronimos Monastery
