Pros
- In a central location, right on Avenida da Liberdade
- Upscale rooms are spacious, with subtle accents of color and pattern
- Wet bars
- Modern bathrooms
- Seasonal outdoor pool
- On-site restaurant and bar, as well as lobby bar
- Breakfast buffet included in some room rates
- Free Wi-Fi
Bottom Line
The 83-room NH Liberdade is a solid option with a great location right on bustling Avenida da Liberdade. Spacious rooms are a decent value, and feature attractive, modern decor with nice touches such as patterned throws, striped curtains, sleek furniture, large flat-screen TVs, and wet bars. The restaurant and bars are simple but nice, and most room rates include a cold breakfast buffet (with hot items on request). There's a seasonal pool, but oddly, no fitness center. All in all, it's a stylish four-pearl choice.

Location
Great location on Avenida da Liberdade
This Heritage hotel has a great, central location for tourists. On Avenida da Liberdade, the hotel is within walking distance of a major metro stop and the heart of Baxia, Chiado, and Bairro Alto neighborhoods.
Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's main artery, is a tree-lined street packed with high-end hotels and shops. But Barrio Alto is also a bustling area in Lisbon. Popular due to its lively nightlife spots, it is also home to vintage and antique shops. The cobblestone streets are often crowded with people, as are the area's bars and restaurants. Largely spared during the earthquake, Barrio Alto has some beautiful historic monuments and sights. Like in other areas of Lisbon, visitors should be careful in Barrio Alto at night, especially on the side streets; they have a reputation for loitering drug dealers.
Nearby Alfama, a Moorish area, is a fishing town with great fado clubs. Like Barrio Alto, it can also be a bit dangerous at nights. Baxia, the financial district, attracts mainly business travelers. But it does have good shopping, particularly for gold and silver. West of Baxia, Chiado is the main shopping district.
