Knightsbridge is an extremely upscale residential area that's home to luxurious shops, including the iconic Harrods department store. Beauchamp Place is lined by numerous boutiques. In fact, the neighborhood is mostly frequented by tourists who are swipe-happy, because there are few entertainment options in the neighborhood that don't require overusing your credit card.
South of Hyde Park, Knightsbridge has a neighborhood vibe, with tree-lined streets and luxurious apartment buildings. In part due to its reputation as a wealthy area, the neighborhood has seen some high-profile crimes in the past, but this has been receding since the 90s.
Though perhaps not the most luxurious neighborhood in the city (London has quite a few), Knightsbridge is an upscale neighborhood and thus almost all hotels have upscale prices. Staying just outside of Knightsbridge, in areas such as Chelsea or Earl's Court, can save visitors a pretty penny.
