Housed in a traditional apartment building on a narrow pedestrian street off Fuencarral, Splendor Suites Gran Via is easy to miss. Two small bushes and a golden plaque mark the entrance of the property, and the small glass door doesn’t look much different from any of the others around it. However, once in side, the property has its own character, with stylish interiors and tons of details both in the few on-site common spaces and in rooms. The lobby is tiny but cute, with little more than a sleek front desk with warm LED lighting and fresh flowers. Although modern and stylish, a couple of details are nods at the origins of this turn-of-the-century apartment building, including a few small black-and-white charcoal portraits with thin golden frames, and charming white wainscoting. 

While there aren’t many common spaces and amenities here, the property goes the extra mile when it comes to services -- there are daily housekeeping, nightly turndown service, free coffee and snacks in the lobby, a lovely games room with toys, and on-site parking, which given the hotel’s location in a central pedestrian area can come in super handy.

The hotel is located on a small pedestrian street a couple of blocks from bustling Gran Via, one of the city’s main thoroughfares. Fuencarral Street, known for its dozens of shops and street performers, is just half a block away, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars within a few minutes of the hotel. Major attractions can also be found within a 20-minute walk, including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Retiro, the Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral, and Prado Museum. Chueca, Malasaña and La Latina neighborhoods, all famous nightlife areas packed with bars, restaurants and shops, are also between 10 and 20 minutes away. Gran Via metro stop is two blocks away, and Atocha train station can be reached in about 20 minutes. Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport is a 25-minute drive away, and the hotel offers airport transfers for a fee. There is also an airport express bus stop in Cibeles, a 10-minute walk from the hotel. 

Splendom Suites Gran Via offers 26 clean apartments with parquet floors, soundproofed windows, and either one or two bedrooms. Decor is stylish and elegant throughout, with a neutral earth tone palette and chic pops of black, and lovely details such as fresh flowers changed every two days, white mantelpieces decorating the living rooms, and wooden window shutters. Starting at 40 square meters (430 square feet) even the smallest studios are spacious; the largest unit is 90 square meters (almost 1,000 square feet), and features two bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms, and a living room. All units have separate kitchens equipped with ovens, cooktops, microwaves, Nespresso machines, full fridges, and toasters. Standard technologies include large smart TVs, free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, and laptop-size safes. All units also feature sofa beds for an additional guest, and DVD players can be requested at no extra charge. 

Bathrooms are spacious and appealing, with gray tiles, shower/tub combos or walk-in showers, Hermes toiletries, and heated towel racks. Housekeeping is available every day, and daily turndown service includes small gifts. Free family packs include boost chairs, cribs, bed railings, and flatware for children.

Although light on amenities, the hotel offers several great services, including a 24-hour snack corner in the lobby, where guests are offered free coffee, tea, water, fruit, candy and cookies. There is no full restaurant on-site, but the hotel offers a basic breakfast pack for a fee for those who want a quick bite before setting out to explore the city or attend a meeting. Each room is also equipped with a free selection of teas and Nespresso coffees, but they are not replenished daily. As a hotel popular with families, Splendom Suites offers a small but cute games room for children stocked with toys, games, books, stuffed animals, and foosball and mini-pool tables. On-site parking is also available for a fee.
