Martha's Vineyard is full of charm and character, making for a great quite getaway. And whether you visit in the the high-season of summer, or late fall for some delish sea fare, this small Massachusetts island has plenty of great places to cozy up in!
Lambert’s Cove Inn is a cozy spot in a remote location. Here, it's quiet and quaint, with a home-like feel and beautifully manicured grounds that include a gazebo, sitting areas, and a swing. Built in 1891, The Harbor View Hotel & Resort was one of Edgartown's first luxury properties, and has an excellent location within walking distance of Main Street, but removed from the tourist season noise. It even boasts a cozy seating area on the front porch overlooking the water. More refined than its sister property The Menemsha Inn, The Beach Plum offers comfortable rooms and suites with French-country style. The property is a beautiful, remote up-island spot overlooking Menemsha Harbor, the fishing village, and a lighthouse, which shine from the swing in the garden. The Winnetu is a massive property (for Martha's Vineyard) with gorgeous views and a location within a quick walk of the beach, and even a serene on-site pond with sitting area. Formerly the Colonial Inn (built in 1911), the Vineyard Square Hotel has reinvented itself as a modern-day hotel. It overlooks Edgartown harbor and the historical waterfront district from the lovely Fourth Floor Veranda. This quaint inn is centered more around historical charm than modern amenities. It offers spacious but basic rooms donning a mix of Colonial and Queen-Anne furnishings, floral and toile wallpaper, and other antique touches that make you feel as if you're stepping back to 1798 (when the inn was originally built as a residence for whaling Captain Thomas Worth). Best of all, the cozy living room offers guests a place to unwind together in the old-time setting. The Menemsha Inn is a secluded and rustic option in the scenic up-island area of Martha's Vineyard. A variety of rooms and cottages can suit different size groups, and all rooms have charming features like wood-burning fireplaces, screen porches, and gorgeous decks overlooking the grounds.
