Add CommentWe stayed here twice, both times before a cruise out of Miami. Both times we found the staff very nice, and the rooms clean and kept well. The pool was good too, and it was neat to sit out there and watch the boats go down the waterways, especially through the drawbridge, if you like that sort of thing. One thing we didn't care for is how far it is from alot of things. It's quite a hike to Bayside, but doable. I wouldn't attempt it at night, but in the day it's a nice walk. There isn't much food around the hotel either. We did like two things about it though....first, it's adjacent to the Peoplemover, so it was a convenient way to ride around the city and get a great view of things. And two....they had a nice coffee and bagel stand in the lobby where we enjoyed a quick bite to eat every morning. We were on a bit of a budget, so we preferred this over eating a big sit down breakfast. Usually we checked out things in the city during the day, and got a big dinner late afternoon/early evening. Since we have stayed here twice, I'd like to try something in a different location, just to have a new experience.
I agree with your assessment. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency during a convention. Unfortunately, it was a convention at Miami Beach Convention Center, so I spent a lot of the week on (lost, for some reason) buses. But that wasn't the hotel's fault. Good hotel. Let me add that I did take the MetroMover and liked it, but walking through all the tunnels to it on a weekend was a very lonely experience. I felt vulnerable. I also walked (in the heat, but I'm from Texas) to Bayfront Park. It's a quick cab ride to Coconut Grove, which I like.
Nice hotel, but far from alot of things...
