A bustling hotel popular with families and business travelers
The Loews is one of the largest properties in South Beach, with constant comings and goings in the cavernous lobby. The lobby has several pricey boutiques, a pink-striped ice cream and candy shop, and the Exhale spa. Furnished in neutral hues with tile floors, the style of the lobby is a bit stodgy. A second lobby in the St. Moritz tower is similar in look and feel.
In the heart of South Beach's Art Deco District
The Loews is centrally located on Collins Avenue in the heart of the Art Deco district in South Beach. The hotel overlooks the ocean and the popular Lincoln Road shopping district is around the corner. Miami International Airport is a 25-minute cab ride away.
Fresh and bright, but on the small side
The 790 rooms and suites are divided between two towers. Rooms are quiet and bright but on the small side. The color scheme of light blues and greens is ocean-inspired and blond wood furniture has an Art Deco feel. Headboards and throw blankets have a perky floral print. Updated bathrooms have nice walk-in showers. Some rooms have balconies with ocean views.
Several restaurants, a pool, spa, and gym
Several dining options at the Loews include a daily breakfast buffet, sushi bar, casual burger joint, and poolside restaurant. Guests who want to avoid the crowded main pool can rent a private cabana on the rooftop terrace. Additional amenities include a full range of spa services, a hair salon, and yoga and fitness classes in the gym. There is also 65,000 square feet of meeting and function space.
The 790-room Loews Miami Beach Hotel is a luxurious mega-resort with attentive service and a big, freeform pool overlooking a beautiful stretch of beachfront. The hotel has a spa, gym, several upscale restaurants, and a convenient, central South Beach location. Some guests complain about securing a poolside chair (and there's a pesky fee for chairs on the beach) plus rates are high and extras like valet parking and gym access are pricey. Families are drawn to the hotel for a list of supervised activities for kids and pets are indulged with treats and toys.
