Add CommentI travel at least 10 times a year and this was the worst hotel experience I have had in decades. 2 night stay 9/30-10/2/11 Room 1 2PM: black mold everywhere, I have photos and will share, if possible. I actually can't believe they would check any guest into a room in this state of disrepair. The mold was only 1/2 of the problem, so we complained. The "supervisor" basically said, "Sorry, no other rooms are available," until I showed him that I took pictures of the mold. Miraculously, he found another room. Room 2 8PM: No electricity or drainage, MUCH smaller and less outfitted than the room style we paid for + other issues... On our way back to the lobby to report on the no electric issue in room 2, a 4"long Jurassic cockroach scurried across our path near the elevator. A few employees saw it too and just exchanged looks of "I'm not touching that thing." I took another picture. At the desk, maintenance was called to reset the power while we escaped to dinner away from the hotel (see roach above). We returned from dinner to realize that our sink would not drain. Too exhausted from the ordeal, we saved our showers for the morning to find that only the bath worked, not the shower. We were ready to go home but had paid in full ahead. The new manager on duty was actually responsive and sympathetic, insisting she'd move us to the room we paid for between 10A-noon. We went to the beach, along with the 4,000 other people who were already on the strip of sand in front of the hotel. The room wasn't ready at 10, noon or 1. Room 3 1:45PM: they finally put us in the long-awaited room. Electricity, drainage, no mold and a balcony that overlooked the pool area. We didn't even have to leave the room - or open the balcony door to "enjoy" the all-day bingo and other games blasting through the poolside speakers. We dropped onto the stone-hard bed in what we were not sure was relief, surrender or exasperation. 3 rooms and 1/2 our vacation later, we were finally here. Long-awaited showers, lunch and a bit of nearby shopping helped clear our heads. Carefully considering how to spend our second night of this get-away, we made dinner plans, packed our stuff and headed home to bask in the comparative luxury of our own homes. We still had 1 night, a beach cabana and a couple cocktails paid for (comped by the apologetic manager), but we were done.
We booked a King Suite, however when we got to our room it was a Queen. We had to wait until the next day until someone checked out to get our King Suite. The next day the curt staff said the room was ready so we went to our second room...again a Queen. We informed the staff a second time, again after waiting several hours we finally got our King Suite (third time's a charm I guess.) The beds in all rooms are very hard and the sheets are very rough. Staff not very apologetic about the whole process. Restaurant Kitchen 305 mediocre at best. Very disappointing. Will never return.
