Less hip than its neighbors, but it seems to get a boost by osmosis.
The Shelborne is right by the Shore Club and Delano hotels -- two major glitterati destinations. But even though it's on Collins Avenue, the Shelborne isn't part of the Miami catwalk, which makes it relatively calm. The 2011 renovation seriously upped the hip factor, making it an up-and-coming alternative right by the beach.
Updated and sophisticated, thanks to a $20 million renovation in 2012
The Guest rooms at the Shelborne swapped their dingy, Golden-Girl-style decor for bright, sophisticated style after the 2012 renovations. They have sleek furniture, clean white walls, flat-screen TVs and walk-in showers. The young management team uses design-forward touches such as attractive signage, menus, design-themed books and plants.
Plenty of space for late-night cocktails, poolside libations or private events
The Shelborne offers several options for all tastes
On the beach at Collins Avenue, the Shelborne is next to Miami's hottest clubs and hotels. Its Art Deco exterior is well preserved, and a $20 million renovation for guest rooms, completed in 2011, has left the hotel's interior looking sleek and refreshed. A youthful management team has breathed new life into all corners of the property, and the hotel has chic furniture, design-forward signage, and two hot spot restaurants. THE HOTEL WILL AGAIN CLOSE FOR RENOVATIONS STARTING IN JUNE 2013.
