The Experiential Rains, an Oyster favorite, are like special-effects showers -- guests press buttons to choose from Atlantic Storm, Caribbean Monsoon, or Polar Mist, each a choreographed shower with sound effects, changing lights, and different water textures and temperatures.

Best Hotel Spas in Miami (2 of 12)

The Experiential Rains, an Oyster favorite, are like special-effects showers -- guests press buttons to choose from Atlantic Storm, Caribbean Monsoon, or Polar Mist, each a choreographed shower with sound effects, changing lights, and different water textures and temperatures.
The Wellness Spa features a number of innovative treatments, from Chinese medicine consultations to prenatal massages to Turkish body rituals. Most amazing is Aquavana, a European thermal suite with a Finnish sauna, a crystal steam room, a foot spa, an herbal laconium, an igloo, and Experiential Rains treatments. The Experiential Rains, an Oyster favorite, are like special-effects showers -- guests press buttons to choose from Atlantic Storm, Caribbean Monsoon, or Polar Mist, each a choreographed shower with sound effects, changing lights, and different water textures and temperatures. The famous Lido Spa is the Standard's main draw, with a Turkish hammam and playful treatments like body painting with mud (where they encourage a friend to blast you clean with a hose). Emphasizing holistic well-being, the hotel offers daily yoga and meditation programs. It's no surprise that the Victor plugs its spa -- which was credited the Steamiest Spa in Concierge.com's list of the world's sexiest resorts -- every chance it gets. You'll find advertisements for it throughout the hotel. While its notorious coed, clothing-optional hammam was empty the day Oyster visited, its locker rooms are South Beach's classiest. The Lapis spa sits between the pool and the beach and looks like a shiny sapphire dropped from the sky. At 40,000 square feet, that's a pretty big rock. A $40 spa pass gets you into the locker rooms, Jacuzzis, cold pool, steam room, and sauna, along with regular access to the gym. Wait till 5 p.m. and the price drops to $25. The Lapis spa has a huge, well-designed locker room that's better than any Equinox gym Oyster's been in. The pool, saunas, and steam rooms aren't crammed into a corner -- instead they are gracefully laid out in the large, concrete subterranean lair. Kind of feels like an uber-trendy cave. Special treatments like massages are extra, of course, but with 30 treatment rooms, there's no waiting in line. The spa, which was named the best spa in Miami by the Miami Herald in 2007, offers private and group fitness classes, in addition to all the standard spa services. There are also three beautiful pools: a lap pool, an indoor pool, and a lovely adults-only outdoor pool, which is accompanied by a hot tub fed by a mini waterfall.
Note: The spa will be temporarily closed for renovations until November. Treatments will still be available, however. The hotel's 10,000-square-foot Guerlain Spa -- only one of two Guerlains in the U.S. -- is a destination unto itself, with a full range of face and body therapies, "harmonizing massages," and "transforming day experiences." But prepare for some eyebrow-raising prices, even by luxury spa standards: hour-long manicures and pedicures run $180 each. The 20,000-square-foot ESPA spa is a showstopper. The treatments, from holistic facials ($150) to a 90-minute maternity massage ($225), don't come cheap, but they never do. However, a number of the spa's beautiful facilities, including Finnish saunas, crystal steam rooms, experience showers, ice falls, and single-sex relaxation rooms with LED lights, can be used for free by hotel guests. This beautiful, 20,000-square-foot spa features a full range of treatments, from a 30-minute Vichy Rain Massage ($60) to a Deliciously Sweet Pedicure Sundae ($80). The fitness center and Pilates studio are contained within the facility. Agua, the hotel's full-service spa, is on the top floor and offers treatments ranging from a Mother to Be massage (60 minutes, $160) to a White Cloud Algae Body Mask (60 minutes, $150). Guests worried about tan lines can also use the spa's beautiful top floor sundeck, which allows topless sunbathing. Use of the sundeck comes with the purchase of any spa service. Spa Chakra, on the 24th floor, opened in 2007 and still looks lovely. Upon arrival, first-time guests receive a foot bath and massage in a special room as they fill out paperwork, rather than doing that tedious task in the reception area. Though it isn't an official Guerlain spa like the Regent Bal Harbour, it does use that venerable French brand's pricey products. Spa Chakra offers a full range of treatments, from chakra balancing (surprise!) to specialty facials.
