Bottom Line

The three-and-a-half-pearl Quail Lodge & Golf Club is an appealing option for golfers, corporate groups, and other travelers seeking a picturesque setting close to downtown Carmel. Its 77 guest rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and have attractive -- and high quality -- contemporary decor. All units feature patios, and contain flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, Keurig coffeemakers, bathrooms with separate walk-in showers and tubs, and free Wi-Fi, and many boast gas fireplaces. Features are extensive, with an outdoor pool, golf and tennis courts, a fitness center, and a full-service restaurant and bar, where breakfast is free, but limited. Quail Lodge & Golf Club

Scene

A casual but classy Lodge with a focus on golf and the great outdoors

The Lodge re-opened in 2013 after a four-year renovation, and looks fresh and modern as a result. The airy lobby exudes a casual and somewhat rustic vibe that’s still classy, with natural stone columns reaching the second floor, a large gas fireplace, and lots of oversize leather furniture. The great outdoors beckon here, with a spacious patio overlooking a lake and the golf course. Expansive grounds make for a relaxing stroll, and you’ll often see guests sitting outside their rooms enjoying the views. The property mostly attracts a mature clientele that enjoys golf in a peaceful getaway setting. But it isn't unusual to see families, as well as international guests and corporate groups. Weddings are popular on summer weekends.

Rooms

Attractive and well-equipped with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and Keurig coffeemakers

The contemporary guest rooms are bright and spacious, with handsome, high-quality Mission-style furniture that enhances the West Coast, rustic ranch ambiance. It nicely plays off white walls, Native American-pattern rugs, and decorative pillows in bright colors for a look that feels pulled together. There's plenty of room for large desks and oversize armchairs with matching ottomans, plus patios or balconies are standard, with Adirondack-style furniture and nice views of the golf course or other parts of the grounds. Many units come with gas fireplaces, and all are equipped with large flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, Keurig coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. While the bedrooms have a casual vibe, the spacious bathrooms are more upscale. They feature separate tubs and walk-in showers, exceptionally large vanities, and magnifying mirrors. Rooms start at a generous 396 square feet, and the Two Bedroom Fairway Villas encompass more than 2,000 square feet.
