Bottom Line

The Regency Tower is an upper-middle-range beachfront property in south Myrtle Beach that's popular with couples and families. The 120 privately owned condos stand out for being a grade above many of the other lodgings offered in the area. There aren’t a lot of extra amenities at the hotel -- there’s no restaurant and breakfast isn’t provided -- but rooms have kitchens so guests can prepare their own meals. The hotel has an outdoor pool that's enclosed seasonally, as well as two whirlpools and a children’s pool. Travelers may want to compare rates with Myrtlewood Villas, which offers privately owned condos on a property with two golf courses, several outdoor pools, and an indoor pool and small lazy river.

Oyster Hotel Review

Regency Towers

Scene

Quiet holiday spot for families and older couples

Two bright-blue stripes and matching columns with blue polka dots stand out against the concrete facade of the Regency Towers. Inside, the lobby has a beachy vibe, with tropical ceiling fans and woven furnishings. The hotel doesn’t attract spring breakers and the ambience is generally quiet. Common spaces include a poolside deck with grills and several tables with umbrellas are available to dine on. The pool deck is right by the beach, and a wooden walkway creates a path down to the flat, sandy area.

Location

Oceanfront location in south Myrtle Beach

The hotel is located on a flat, sandy beach surrounded by other hotels in south Myrtle Beach. There are a few places to eat within walking distance, including a McDonald’s and Waffle House. There's also a state park and a miniature golf course within a 10-minute drive. The boardwalk is less than 10 minutes away by car, and both the airport and Whispering Pines Golf Course are around a five-minute drive.

Rooms

Nice, privately owned condos with kitchens and big balconies

The hotel has privately owned two- and three-bedroom condos available. Furnishings and decor vary, but the rooms stand out as being better furnished than other condos in the area. The two-bedroom condo we looked at had a pretty living room with wooden floors, white wainscoting, and charming seaside-themed decor. Kitchens are furnished with stoves and refrigerators, and appliances include toasters, blenders, and coffeemaker. Balconies have lovely ocean views and are big enough to accommodate tables and chairs.
