Bottom Line

Like its sister property (and so many in the area), the Schooner II is a decent, slightly worn mid-level resort located directly on the beach and close to many of Myrtle Beach's attractions. Suites are a little tight on space and feature generic décor with modern touches like flat-screen TVs and stainless steel kitchen appliances. Bathrooms offer Jacuzzi tubs and are somewhat sizable, but their yellow walls may look tacky to some. With no children's activity program or kids' pool, this resort lacks some of the family-friendly features found at other properties nearby.

Oyster Hotel Review

Schooner II Beach/Racquet Club

Location

Downtown, right on the beach and nearby many local attractions

The hotel is right on the beach, along with numerous other hotels lining Ocean Boulevard. It's a busy street but there are sidewalks for the many tourists who are staying in the area.

Myrtle Beach is continually ranked as one of America's best family beach destinations, and offers visitors one-of-a-kind nightlife, more than 100 golf courses, and 60 miles of sandy shoreline. It's known to get a bit jam-packed, although the off-season brings smaller crowds -- but not those high southern temps ideal for sunbathing.

  • 11-minute drive to [Myrtle Beach International Airport]
  • 8-minute walk to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center
  • 17-minute walk or 2-minute drive to Ripley's Believe it or Not museum
  • 19-minute walk or 2-minute drive to Pavilion Nostalgia Park, with carousel and classic rides
  • 3-minute drive to Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade
  • 5-minute drive to Family Kingdom Amusement Park
  • 6-minute drive to Ripley's Aquarium
  • 19-minute drive to Barefoot Landing, an area of shops and restaurants
  • 26-minute drive to Waccatee Zoo
