Set amid some of the world's best wineries, St. Helena is arguably one of the top gems of Napa Valley. It has beautiful 19th-century-style architecture, and some of the best shopping in the region. Home to the West Coast headquarters of the Culinary Institute of America, this quiet town has become one of the most popular foodie destinations in California, and upscale travelers pour into the pricey hotels and expensive boutiques. However, the town remains a quiet place surrounded by great hiking and bicycling trails.
St. Helena is very small, so almost any hotel will be within walking distance to the action. Stay close to Main St. for easy access to boutiques and restaurants. You will probably have to drive to most wineries, so this location is also convenient for exploring the vineyards.
