Bottom Line

A converted apartment building, the Best Western PLUS Hospitality House is a great mid-range option in Midtown East. Rooms -- which are all one- or two-bedrooms -- are very spacious by New York City standards. Each one comes with a full kitchen and all the necessary utensils; a separate living space with a flat-screen TV; and bathrooms with Bath & Body toiletries. Amenities are few: There is a free breakfast buffet daily that can be taken in an outdoor courtyard, but there is no full-service restaurant. There's also no fitness center on-site, but the hotel does provide free passes to a nearby YMCA. Overall, it's a solid option for large groups and those looking for a homey stay in Manhattan -- but it's worth comparing rates with the Wyndham Midtown 45, which also offers kitchen-equipped suites.

Oyster Hotel Review

A mid-range hotel with homey, kitchen-equipped suites

The lobby is quite small, unlike the rest of the property

The Best Western is a homey property in Midtown East ideal for families or large groups. The lobby is small and underwhelming, but the rest of the property is very spacious. The breakfast room is a convenient space to relax, with access to a computer and printer station, as well as an outdoor courtyard. Rooms are large, easily fitting large families or groups of friends, and come with full kitchens, separate living spaces (often with sofa beds), and one or two bedrooms.

Property features aren't as numerous as at other hotels in the area, so it's worth comparing prices with similar properties, like the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Midtown East or Wyndham Midtown 45, both of which also feature rooms with full kitchens.

This converted apartment building has spacious rooms with full kitchens.

The spacious Two Bedroom Apartment King Twins Suite has streamlined decor and a full kitchen

Rooms at the Best Western are incredibly large by New York City standards. Each one comes with a full kitchen, separate living area, and one or two bedrooms. Decor is classic and streamlined. The vibe is homey, which makes sense considering this is a converted apartment building.

Kitchens come fully stocked with all the necessary appliances and utensils. The fridge also comes prepared with a little gift package to get guests started. It includes water bottles, cookies, pretzels, and other snacks.

There are flat-screen TVs in the living area (which features several couches or sofa beds and a dining table) and in the bedrooms. Bedrooms feature comfortable beds and iPod docks.

Bathrooms are similarly spacious and feature the full line of Bath & Body toiletries -- extra touches such as make-up remover are appreciated.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

A great breakfast buffet, but not much else.

Impressive breakfast buffet spread features hot station, including a waffle maker

Guests at the Best Western have access to a free breakfast buffet daily. The spread is impressive, with several hot stations (including a waffle maker), and food can be taken outside on the hotel's small courtyard. The breakfast room also features a computer and printing station that are free to use.

There is no full-service restaurant or fitness center on-site, but the hotel provides free passes to a nearby YMCA for all guests.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
