Comfort Inn Central Park West is popular with large groups looking for a quiet refuge from the bustle of tourist-laden Midtown. The neighborhood is primarily residential, and the pace and atmosphere is slower here than elsewhere in Manhattan. Like the rest of the hotel's common areas, the lobby -- with its oversized leather sofas and mirrored walls -- is dated. The entire property is in need of a refresh, but the space is clean and tidy.

The hotel's Upper West Side location is one of the property's biggest draws. The hotel is on a tree-lined street full of beautiful brownstones -- a hallmark of the residential neighborhood -- and just down the street from lovely Central Park. The subway is also half a block away. Kid-friendly museums such as the Children's Museum of Manhattan, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Hayden Planetarium make this a prime spot for families looking to get away from the tourist crowds in Times Square.

The rooms at the Comfort Inn​ are clean and functional, and the decor and amenities are standard for a hotel of this caliber. Many of the rooms are small even for New York City, with space for a bed, a dresser and some walking space. Guests might prefer staying on the lower floors in order to avoid using the elevator, which moves slowly serving the entire hotel. One noteworthy highlight for some rooms -- especially those on higher floors -- is lovely views of the NYC skyline and Upper West Side neighborhoods.

Free continental breakfast and a small business center off the lobby round out the major features at the Comfort Inn. The breakfast area, however, is small and tables go fast in the morning.
