I found the Gansevoort to be amazingly dirty, tired, filled with European mid-level cougars, noisy, and above all, home to the most obnoxious staff (especially management and the front desk) I've experienced in the many hotels I've stayed at in my life. I could present an entire laundry list of problems - my room wasn't ready, the manager yelled at me, the dirty sheets, and so on - but my life is too short to complain all day. Avoid this place like the plague and stay at The Standard or The Bowery.
Oyster must have stayed in a different hotel than me...
