Best Hotel Room Service in New York City

Some hotels might charge an outrageous price for a cold omelet or a soggy burger and fries, but others — the hotels on this list — offer excellent cuisine (sometimes from a restaurant led by a celebrity chef), 24 hours a day, and always in a hurry.

1

Trump International Hotel and Tower New York

Upper West Side, New York City, New York, United States

The Trump International Hotel & Tower is home to two restaurants by famous chef Jean Georges Vongerichten, and both of them offer room service 24 hours (although the overnight menu is limited). The server who brings the food offers to set the table, and even refused (with respectful formality) to let our reporter hold the door open for him. There's also a special room service menu for kids, with kiddie cocktails like a decadent Coca-Cola and vanilla ice cream float.

2

The Surrey

Upper East Side, New York City, New York, United States

The Surrey is the only place in the world you can order room service courtesy of three-Michelin-star chef Daniel Boulud (from his on-site restaurant, Cafe Boulud). But you'll pay for the privelege: Delivery charges are $7 plus 17 percent gratuity.

3

Greenwich Hotel

TriBeCa, New York City, New York, United States

Locanda Verde, opened in May 2009, serves reasonably priced, tasty traditional Italian food -- 24 hours a day, for hotel guests. The restaurant, co-wened by Robert De Niro and helmed by chef Andrew Carmellini, is one of Manhattan's premier foodie hot spots.

4

The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York

Upper East Side, New York City, New York, United States

Room service at the Pierre is far from cheap (this is, after all, one of the top luxury hotels in the city), but it's available 24 hours and has extensive offerings. In addition to typical room-service fare, Indian specialties (the hotel is managed by an Indian company), like a lamb tikka kebab ($26), are available. A "Children and Juniors Menu" features options like a "Junior Pierre Burger" ($16) and macaroni and cheese ($12).

5

SIXTY LES

Lower East Side, New York City, New York, United States

The kitchen of a celebrity chef that prepares food 24 hours a day? That's the reality at Thompson LES; its high-end Asian fusion restaurant Shang, helmed by acclaimed chef Susur Lee, is open to room service requests at any hour.

6

The Bryant Park Hotel

Midtown West, New York City, New York, United States

Bryant Park offers 24-hour room service from its high-end sushi restaurant Koi, the New York outpost of the original L.A. celebrity magnet.

7

Four Seasons Hotel New York

Midtown East, New York City, New York, United States

Four Seasons room service is available 24 hours and comes with high-class presentation -- in a silver platter rolled in on a cart. Given the hotel's enormous rooms -- the standard rooms are more than twice the size of most NYC hotel rooms -- there's actually plenty of space in the room to dine comfortably.

8

The Mansfield

Midtown West, New York City, New York, United States

Room service at the Mansfield routinely arrives quickly, and the breakfast menu has tasty options beyond the typical eggs/meat side/bread product (though they also have the old standards). Among the great breakfast options, there's the truffled egg brioche with a side of crispy Applewood bacon for a very reasonable $15.

9

Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

New York City, New York, United States

Affinia Gardens' room service is available 24 hours a day from four local restaurants: Accademia di Vino, China Fun, Jackson Hole, and Silver Star. Orders are routinely fulfilled promptly, but real room-service highlight is the shockingly affordable breakfast (at least compared to other NYC hotels). For $10, you can get a piece of fruit, a pastry or muffin, yogurt or cereal, a granola bar, coffee or tea, and juice.
