Best Hotel Bathrooms in New York (13 of 13)

The 400-square-foot Standard Suite has a freestanding tub in the middle of the room from which you can soak in the 180-degree views of the Hudson.
The bathrooms in the Mandarin Oriental are huge. Even the least expensive rooms come with deep soaking tubs beside windows with slatted shades. All bathrooms include a small flat-screen TV that's visible from the tub. Toilets sit behind a frosted glass door (to the left of the shower), and showers have oversize rainfall showerheads. The water pressure is so powerful you almost need a cigarette when you're done. High quality toiletries are from Aromatherapy Associates. The Plaza's bathrooms have enough space for twin 24-karat-gold-plated sinks and a partitioned-off toilet with its own window. A full-size soaking tub and shower have intricate mosaic walls, and the thick Mascioni Turkish cotton towels and robes (available in both adult's and children's sizes) don't disappoint. The body lotion and hand soap are from Miller Harris, and the shampoo and conditioner comes from the hotel's own line. The bathroom vanity area, decorated in black marble and dark wood, is open to the bedroom but can be closed off with French doors. The toiletries -- including ginger soy milk shampoo and shea rice-milk conditioner from Hamadi, as well as Lather exfoliating body soap with oatmeal -- have been selected by the editors of Allure magazine. The bathrooms are outfitted in a combination of white and tan marble, with a minimalist rectangular sink, a large soaking tub, and a wonderful rainfall showerhead. Toiletries include mini-bottles of relaxing shower gel, coco de mer body lotion, and lili-pili shampoo and conditioner from English luxury brand Molton Brown. The incredibly clean tub comes with whirlpool spray jets -- a rare treat in NYC. The incredibly clean tub comes with whirlpool spray jets -- a rare treat in NYC. Careful thought (and money) went into the rich black granite countertops, the marble-tiled bathtub and shower area, Aveda toiletries, and the tasteful lighting that gives the Affinia's bathroom a candle-lit glow. A small LCD TV next to the sink means guests won't miss their favorite show while showering or shaving. All rooms have open-plan bathrooms -- the shower and tub are separated from the rest of the guest room only by clear glass panes. Bathers can see out; voyeurs can see in. (Happily, the toilet gets its own narrow stall with opaque walls.)
