The Peninsula hotel's rooftop bar, Salon de Ning, has some of the best views in Midtown. Naturally, they're even better at night. Note the angled roof of the Citigroup Center twinkling just beyond Salon de Ning. The Mandarin Oriental is located atop the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle. From the lobby lounge, you can watch cabs swarm below. Of course, you can also drink in the view of Central Park from the Mandarin's lobby lounge. A glimpse out the window in the Corner Hudson View Room provides exactly what it says on the tin (along with a broad panorama of New Jersey). The Superior Room at the Standard hotel has outstanding views south, with the High Line elevated park to the left (in the foreground) and the Goldman Sachs Tower in the distance. The Deluxe Corner Rooms have even better views of the same scene, which you can enjoy from bed. With a view like this, who needs a TV? This Standard Suite also offers a fantastic panorama of the Hudson River. Step into the shower for a look north, up 10th Avenue. An even broader view north from the hotel can be had from the roof. To the left, netting catches golf balls at the Chelsea Piers driving range. To the right, the skyscrapers of Times Square reach for the clouds. The Corner King Rooms at the Hotel on Rivington have great views of the Lower East Side, Brooklyn, and the Williamsburg Bridge. There are also terrific scenes -- starring the Empire State Building -- looking north from the Corner King Rooms. The New York Marriott Downtown, meanwhile, has excellent views of another New York landmark, the Statue of Liberty. A 32-floor tower in Times Square, the Novotel has a nice cafe with a balcony that overlooks the madness. Some City View Rooms at the Novotel also afford glimpses of Times Square, including a peek at the ball that drops every New Year's Eve. The W Hoboken, across the Hudson River from Manhattan, offers sweeping views of the New York skyline by day. And the views only get better at night. Thanks to a great location at the southern tip of Manhattan, the Liberty Suite at the Ritz-Carlton New York Battery Park has outstanding views of the harbor. And telescopes in Harbor View Rooms give closeups of the harbor's most iconic feature.
