See More Photos Huge rooms (renovated in 2008), a luxe spa, and a fantastic gym make the Palace a great value among luxury hotels. The large fitness center -- free to all guests -- has a lot of new cardio equipment, and each machine has its own personal video screen. Even better are the views of St. Patrick's Cathedral and midtown. In addition, the Palace is the only hotel in New York to offer complimentary sneakers and workout clothes to all guests. Yes, the idea of wearing someone else's sneakers is a little gross, but they take up a lot of room in a suitcase. The gym also provides guests with bottled water and fruit.See More Photos The fitness center at the Millenium Hilton isn't enormous, but it's free, open 24 hours, and is naturally lit with floor-to-ceiling windows. Mint-condition Precor treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights are complemented by weight benches, several abdominal exercise balls, a flat-screen TV, and a selection of magazines. Sessions with personal trainers are available, as are personal fitness bags for guests who'd rather lift weights in the privacy of their hotel room. The 40-foot indoor swimming pool is a rare bonus in New York City. See More Photos The St. Giles bests its sister, The Court, with its quieter location and excellent 24-hour fitness center. The gym features clean, modern machines with personal TV screens, a selection of free weights, and plenty of towels. See More Photos Located in quiet but central Midtown East, this Marriott has what you'd expect from the big chain (comfy, clean rooms, friendly staff, mediocre food), plus more -- a location with some history, freshly renovated rooms, great electronics, and a fancy top-floor gym with great views of the city. The 35th-floor fitness center features Star-Trac cardio machines (six treadmills, four elliptical machines, and several bikes), each has its own individual TV monitor, iPod dock, and USB port. Headphones are available to borrow at no extra charge. See MorePhotos The W New York features a lively bar scene, funky design, and solid in-house gym with more than a dozen cardio machines, free weights, and large windows.
