Bottom Line

Wedged between a restaurant and a residential building on a SoHo street five minutes from both Chinatown and Little Italy, the Solita Soho Hotel is a mid-range boutique offering 42 small, clean rooms outfitted in white and black, at competitive rates for the area. The immediate area is teeming with upscale shopping options and the cheaper stores on Broadway are within easy walking distance as well; restaurants are also plentiful in the neighborhood. Because of the small size of the room and the limited space for maneuvering, most guests happy with the hotel come with an expectation of using it primarily as a place to sleep, not to spend much time.

Solita Soho Hotel

Scene

Small, stylish hotel in hip location

The small lobby at the Solita Soho Hotel is tasteful but plain with a woven birch-bark ceiling and a bank of stainless steel elevators immediately to the right upon entry. A giant graphic photo print of the lower half of a red-lipped face is situated behind the front desk and adds a slightly avant-garde feel. Apart from a tufted leather couch near the door, there is little room for guests to sit and lounge; the hotel resembles a converted apartment building in terms of the scope of its common areas. Cher and Calvin Klein reportedly live across the street and Rihanna and a few other celebrities live nearby and have been seen by the guests.
