Located in Cathedral City, a town in the Coachella valley, Desert Princess Golf Resort is about 10 miles from downtown Palm Springs. The area is golf territory, with more than 10 courses splattered across 22 square miles. The town lacks the urban offerings of Palm Springs but has some impressive mountain views. Fun fact: Frank Sinatra's gravesite is in town.
Once known as a destination only suited for spring breakers or retirees, Palm Springs has become a classy and clean desert destination for anyone looking for an uncluttered city with resort amenities. With a healthy gay scene and the Coachella valley (and music festival) just over 30 minutes away, the Palm Springs crowd is slowly becoming harder and harder to define. Most who come are there to spend, exercise and relax.
The Desert Princess Golf Resort is an upper-middle-range hotel that caters to business travelers and golfers. Slightly outside of Palm Springs, it lacks urban convenience, but the views from the rooms (all with balconies or patios) can't be beat. Most overlook the pool and golf course with gorgeous mountains as a backdrop. The rooms themselves are quite dated, though, and some do overlook the parking lot. (A two-year renovation started in the summer of 2013, however.) There's plenty to do at the resort besides golf -- swim in the Olympic-size pool, work out in the fitness center, get a message in the spa, or try your hand at racquetball, volleyball, or tennis. With tons of meeting space and a full-service business center, this hotel is a good choice for business travelers wanting plenty of options for unwinding in their downtime.
