Bottom Line

Calypso Resort and Towers is an enormous double high-rise resort that stretches up from the beach in Panama City. The resort is one of the nicer properties in the area with private beach access, two pools, and a convenient location just one block away from the shopping, dining, and attractions of Pier Park. Each of the 600 rooms are equipped with expected condo amenities such full kitchens with dishwasher, and washer/dryers. The inside of the resort is a bit dated, but the location and beach access cannot be beat. Guests should be aware that decor varies widely between condos, and some visitors report that while oceanfront balconies are appealing, views vary depending on the tower floor.

On the main Gulf drag in the beach town of Panama City

Map of Calypso Resort & Towers

Calypso Resort and Towers is located on the main Gulf-side drag of Front Beach Road. The location puts golf, shopping, amusement parks, and white-sand beaches all within a short drive or walk. Pier Park is within walking distance and Panama City also has a charming downtown area with some pedestrian-friendly shopping and musical events. The rest of the area however, is a driving town.

Panama City is a Florida family beach town with all that implies. The area is full of put-put golf, amusement parks, shopping, and the beautiful St. Andrews State Park. The park has the virtues of white sand beaches, nature trails, and plenty of opportunities for water sports. Panama City also has a downtown area with more vintage charm than most similar beach towns. Downtown, one can find seasonal events and art shows as well as live music and shopping.
