A quiet street on the Left Bank, close to the Musee D'Orsay and Saint Germain
This boutique hotel has a great location on the Left Bank, just a short walk to Musee D'Orsay and Saint Germain for access to a number of luxury shopping boutiques, bookstores, and art galleries. The Montparnasse metro station is within easy reach, and staff at the hotel will arrange a shuttle or private driver for trips to the airport or day tours. Guests can while away the day with a long walk along the Seine, and then visit one of the bistros, patisseries, and fruit stands in the area. In fact, the French restaurant La Ferme Saint-Simon -- just steps from the property -- is said to be exquisite.
Paris is one of Europe's most densely populated cities, and is currently one of the world's most important business and cultural metropolises. Known as "The City of Lights" for its growth during the Age of Enlightenment, Paris is home to some of the world's most luxurious fashion (Hermes, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent), iconic museums and structures, as well as major media and business outlets.
The Hotel Duc de Saint-Simon is a classic choice for those seeking a traditional Parisian hotel with historic and romantic touches. It is said to be the place where Lauren Bacall stays while in Paris, which might help describe the guests who best fit in here: people of a certain age, with a certain budget. Rooms are not cheap, but the hotel sees many repeat visitors thanks to its great location on the Left Bank near Saint Germain and the Musee d'Orsay. The property is split by an outdoor terrace, and has a labyrinth feel on the inside with a series of small lounge areas. Head downstairs to the underground cave for breakfast or cocktails, and marvel at the oil paintings and Persian rugs. Comfortable rooms come in three sizes: Classic, Superior, or Suite, and -- like other areas of the hotel -- are decorated in rich fabrics and antique furniture (even the keys are antique). Room perks include flat-screen TVs, large bathrooms (by European standards), and plush bathrobes. Some rooms offer a private terrace or balcony, providing a nice spot to enjoy a glass of champagne from the hotel's impressive wine list.
