Bottom Line

La Villa Paris is a four-room bed and breakfast set in a lovely 1920s mansion in the 13th arrondissement in southeastern Paris. It's a 15-minute metro ride to the historic center of Paris and major tourist attractions. But a stay at La Villa Paris offers a window into the life of real Parisians. The location in the Butte aux Cailles quarter is like living in a charming village, with its own butcher, baker, small bars and restaurants, and the owners provide guests with the perfect balance of attention and privacy.

La Villa Paris

Scene

Peace, privacy, and charm, and a taste of everyday Parisian life

La Villa Paris is a beautiful, red brick, 1920s mansion with four guestrooms, each of which is individually decorated, and several of which have private entrances. Guests can use the kitchen if they want to take advantage of the local shops and feel at home away from home. Despite the small size of this B&B, there are perfectly composed common spaces for relaxing, including a reading room with comfortable chairs and games. The lobby has very French, toile-upholstered chairs and wooden tables, gorgeous parquet floors, a bookcase full of guidebooks, and well-chosen art on the walls. The private garden is a terrace with a cheerful red table and chairs for soaking in the Parisian atmosphere.

Location

On a quiet street, in a village-y neighborhood, away from the hubhub of the major tourist areas

La Villa Paris sits on a quiet, one-way street in the Butte aux Cailles quarter, which feels like a small country village. The nearest metro stop (Tolbiac, Line 7) is a 10-minute walk, after which it is a 15-minute ride to tourist central. The bus stops out front, and goes through some of the city's most scenic and interesting neighborhoods on the way to the city center. Tourists who want to be in the thick of things may feel too far from the heart of the city, but those who want to experience Parisian life will find this the perfect location.

Rooms

Interesting furniture, hardwood floors, timeless views

Each room at La Villa Paris is different, but all are equally lovely, decorated in blacks, whites, and grays with pops of hot pink or red, hardwood floors, and beautiful, fun textiles and wallpaper. This is not a stuffy B&B; it's modern, and the furniture by designer Sam Sader combines comfort and cool. Views of the quiet surrounding streets are timeless, and there are electric shutters useful when the outside world becomes intrusive. Some of the bathrooms are small, but the walk-in showers are well done, and the Champs Elysee room has a huge bathroom with whirlpool tub. Rooms have flat-screen TVs.
