Like its name suggests, Carefree is a quiet place to escape the hustle and bustle of Scottsdale and Phoenix, its neighbors to the south. Visitors come here to enjoy the endless sunshine (skies are clear and bright 325 days a year, on average), magnificent golf courses and locally grown organic fare. With just over 3,000 residents and street names like Primrose Path and Tranquil Trail (and an information center located on Easy Street), Carefree is quaint, cozy and whimsical. It harbors old-fashioned saloons where visitors can grab a cold sarsaparilla, as well as modern world-class restaurants, art galleries and shops. Carefree sits on the lush Sonoran Desert, surrounded by massive boulder formations, lofty saguaro cacti and coyotes howling at the moon.
