Bottom Line

Situated right on the beach in Condado, the Marriott Resort & Casino is a step above some other hotels in the neighborhood: The grounds and the hotel -- including the pools, the tennis courts, and the spa -- are well-kept, and the upscale rooms feature warm colors, flat-screen TVs, and large bathrooms with granite vanities. Though there is a casino on-site, the hotel also caters to families, with amenities such as a game room, laundry facilities, and a pool with a waterslide. But some have complained of hearing noise from the casino in the rooms on the lower floors, and fees for extras such as Wi-Fi and beach chairs are annoying.

Great location in Condado -- right on the beach and Ashford Avenue, the main strip

Map of San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino

Once a booming area catering to foreign tourism, and then forgotten and somewhat sketchy, Condado became an affluent beachfront neighborhood after the remarkable rehabilitation carried out in the late 90s and early 2000s. Ashford Avenue is the main strip, where restaurants, upscale boutiques and casinos line the sidewalks.

You will have to take the bus to the main tourist attractions in Old San Juan, however, and the beach is busier than those east of Condado.

  • 8-minute drive to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport
  • Right on the beach and Ashford Avenue
  • 11-minute walk, or 3-minute drive, to the Museum of Contemporary Art
  • 15-minute walk, or 4-minute drive, to the Puerto Rican Museum of Art
  • 2-minute drive to Luis A. Ferre Performing Arts Center
  • 9-minute drive to Old San Juan
  • 11-minute drive to La Princesa Promenade, with beautiful views overlooking the sea
  • 12-minute drive to the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista
  • 13-minute drive to San Felipe del Morro, a 16th-century fortress
