Residential-style property amid a resort village
The stone- and brick-clad interior of this quaint beachfront property is a far cry from the brightly hued, spacious common areas found in other mega-resorts surrounding Puerto Vallarta. And perhaps that's what makes Vallarta Shores so appealing to its guests -- from all angles (interior, exterior, and guest rooms), the property feels more like a residential apartment building than a Mexican resort. Common areas are bare and limited, leaving little room to mingle with guests. Even the pool, tucked in an oft-shaded corner next to the beach but adjacent to a parking lot, is tiny by even the most budget of standards, and offers only a few lounge chairs.
Ideal beachfront location minutes from the bustle of Old Town
Vallarta Shores is located on the southern side of Old Town (also known as the Romantic Zone), on the popular Los Muertos Beach. Though the rest of the street can noisy, Vallarta Shores sits at the more subdued end of the busy strip.
The neighborhood itself is dense, with apartment buildings, small hotels, condos, restaurants and bars seemingly piled on top of each other, climbing the hills behind the beach -- all resulting in an often jam-packed beach bustling with vendors and tourists alike.
For dining, shopping, and nightlife, Old Town is a quick walk away. Or, head farther across the Rio Cuale (a pedestrian bridge at the river mouth) and up the Malecon boardwalk to the plaza and cathedral, where the whole town comes to life every evening, especially in the high season. This area, known as Downtown Puerto Vallarta, is the most happening and diverse area, and has a few gay clubs (Puerto Vallarta is arguably Mexico's most gay-friendly destination).
Spacious, well-adorned residential-style rooms
The property includes eight spacious one- and two-bedroom units, and two penthouses. All are fully furnished with comfortable, tasteful furnishings and artwork. Interior walls are painted white or made of brick, and/or stone. Beautiful handcrafted tile work adorns most kitchens and bathrooms. All have fully equipped kitchens with dining areas, and separate bedrooms (most with their own views of the ocean). All have balconies with unobstructed views of the beach and Banderas Bay, except for the ground floor units which open directly onto the beach. The eight lower level units share a small pool. Upgrade to one of the penthouses for your own private pool, and a chef who’ll cook two meals a day during your stay.
Almost no amenities -- just a small public pool
