A peaceful location in the heart of trendy Trastevere, close to restaurants and bars
This former monastery is located on the right bank of the Tiber River, within a 30-minute walk of many attractions, including Vatican City. For a slightly longer walk, guests can head across the Sisto Bridge to access the sights of Old Rome, including the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Spanish Steps. Taxis can be arranged by asking a member of staff, and the Carabinieri Metro Station is located near the hotel, as well. Though Donna Camilla Savelli is in the Trastevere neighborhood -- a lively hub for shops, restaurants and bars -- the premise feels like a peaceful respite with its leafy courtyard settings. (Make sure to check out the rooftop terrace for photo ops.) On Sundays, there is a nearby outdoor market featuring local vendors.
This elegant, 78-room boutique hotel is located in the Trastevere neighborhood on the right bank of the Tiber River, a bit far from most tourist sights. Lovers of history will likely appreciate the 17th century monastery setting, designed by a well-known Baroque architect and featuring wood-beamed ceilings, arched hallways, and marble floors. Rooms have antique-style furniture (though some bedding is slightly dated rather than charmingly old-world), as well as flat-screen TVs, minibars, spacious bathrooms, and bathrobes. The rooftop terrace offers outstanding panoramic views of the neighborhood, but it lacks seating areas. Those who want to relax outside will have to make do with the pretty courtyard garden on ground level. This is where the free breakfast can be enjoyed in summer months, as well as cocktails in the evening (there is no full restaurant on-site). Parking is free, and Wi-Fi is available in the lobby at no additional charge -- but it's not available in rooms at all.
