Hotel Ivanhoe

A welcoming, helpful atmosphere is felt throughout the mid-range Hotel Ivanhoe, which resides in a building constructed in 1800. The simple and basic lobby has a wood front desk and red tile floors while a small sitting area has white leather chairs and wood wainscoting. The contemporary but plain breakfast room has lovely wood floors and black tables and chairs while the small wood bar area has the same red tile floor as the lobby and black armchairs. A black spiral staircase leads to the wonderful rooftop terrace, which has metal bistro tables and chairs surrounded by potted plants and umbrellas. However, some of the furniture in the common areas is worn and seating is limited throughout. Overall, this is a solid mid-range pick with a warm atmosphere that stands out for its scenic rooftop terrace. 

The Hotel Ivanhoe is in the historic district with restaurants, bars, shops, the Church of Santa Maria dei Monti, and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore within a five-minute walk. Quirinale Palace, the Rome Opera, and Santa Prassede are a 10-minute walk away while the Rome Termini Train Station, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, and public transportation are a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Both the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and Ciampino Airport are about a 30-minute drive away.

The basic, pleasant rooms are available in a variety of configurations, from Single through Triple Rooms. Room decor varies slightly, mainly through the bedding that ranges from blue multicolored comforters to purple bed runners with red pillows. Pale green walls, red-tile floors, and light-wood furniture decorate the space in a mismatched fashion while flat-screen TVs with Sky TV are mounted on the walls. Minibars with drinks are stored in the corners of the rooms, and there's air-conditioning provided. Some rooms have coffeemakers, but all rooms and bathrooms are small. Additionally, some rooms have loud street noise. Red and white tile adorn the traditional bathrooms with white sinks attached to the walls. Hairdryers and Senza toiletries are provided, but only tiny showers are available (no tubs). Wi-Fi is free throughout. 

The highlight of the Hotel Ivanhoe is the gorgeous rooftop terrace, reached by a spiral staircase. The space is decorated with bistro tables and umbrellas, and it offers views over Rome's rooftops. A well-reviewed breakfast is included in the room rate with cakes, eggs made-to-order, cereal, yogurt, cheeses, fruit, and meat. There is an on-site cafeteria with snacks as well as a bar with cocktails, wine, and beer. Concierge services and a 24-hour front desk are available, and there's free Wi-Fi throughout. However, there is no business center.
