Hotel Navona

The family-run Hotel Navona occupies a floor in a historic 15th-century building on the site of the Baths of Agrippa. With just 18 rooms, the hotel is intimate and welcoming, and the modern design with a slight vintage aesthetic complements the historic architecture. The lobby and entrance feel Renaissance-inspired: The long entranceway has tiled floors and a wrought-iron chandelier, and leads into a plant-filled courtyard with an historic fountain with a carved stone head. Gold armchairs, a wood front desk, and a flat-screen TV decorate the antique-styled lobby, and original Roman bricks can be seen around the common areas. The small breakfast room is decorated with red tufted leather banquettes, clear lucite Philippe Starck-style Louis XVI chairs, tan tile floors, and potted plants. As of June 2015, the hotel had just installed an elevator.

The Hotel Navona is located in Rome's historic center, within walking distance of the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Piazza della Rotonda, all less than five minutes away on foot. And plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops, and bars line these central streets. The Piazza Pasquino and Piazza della Minerva are also walkable in under five minutes. Both the Ciampino Airport and Leonardo da Vinci International Airport are a 30-minute drive from the Hotel Navona. The hotel can arrange airport transfers for a fee. 

The relatively small rooms at the Hotel Navona have a homey feel, with a simple and clean design that seems inspired by 1930s and 1950s style. Rooms are decorated with large tufted headboards, crimson- or rose-colored bed runners, hardwood floors, and vintage-style furniture. All are brightly lit and have views over either the picturesque street or the serene interior courtyard. Modern amenities include air-conditioning and a flat-screen TV; mini-fridges and safes are located in closets. Some higher-tier rooms have private balconies, slippers, electric kettles with tea, and Nespresso coffeemakers, in addition to historic details such as frescoed ceilings and exposed ceiling beams. Bathrooms are modern and sleek, with tile floors and patterned, multicolored tile on the sinks and in the showers. Heated towel racks, hairdryers, and toiletries are provided. Some bathrooms include rainfall shower heads and colored lighting, but none have tubs. And Economy bathrooms don’t have toiletries or hairdryers.

An extensive breakfast buffet -- including cereal, eggs, sausage, meats, cheeses, baguettes, fruit, and croissants -- is served daily and included in some rates. The hotel also offers concierge services from its 24-hour front desk. Free Wi-Fi is available, but there's no business center. Parking is not available on-site, but the hotel has an arrangement with a nearby garage. And airport transfers are available for a fee.
