Modern, functional hotel encouraging self service
The lobby in the iQ Hotel Roma is contemporary and functional -- with soft red sofas and polished chrome -- and simple decor. Pieces of modern art dotting the walls add a little color, and a spacious internal courtyard provides an interesting and airy seating area. The atmosphere overall is no-fuss and relaxed, from the covered rooftop lounge area to the sauna.
Walking distance from Termini Station and Trevi Fountain
The iQ Hotel Roma is located on the relatively quiet Teatro Dell’Opera square, a 10-minute walk from Rome's main train station, Termini, and just a few minutes from the nearest Metro stop. Attractions such as the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain are about 15 minutes' walk away, while the Colosseum is a mile away. The Vatican, with the famous Sistine Chapel is five Metro stops away, while the beautiful gardens of Villa Borghese are just two.
Simple contemporary rooms with minimal amenities
The hotel's 88 rooms are modern and functional, decorated in muted tones with subtly patterned wallpaper and simple contemporary furnishings. Amenities are sparse, but rooms do include small flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges which can be filled up with vending machines on each floor. Tiled bathrooms provide wall-mounted towel warmers, hair dryers, and bidets.
Self-service bar and rooftop breakfast
The ethos of this hotel is that everything is self-service, from vending machines selling drinks and snacks on each floor, to coin operated laundry and even a self-service bar. Access to the gym and sauna is free of charge, as is the business center featuring individual booths. A hot and cold buffet breakfast can be taken on the large, partially-covered roof terrace overlooking the Opera House and there is a play area for kids. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Outdoor smoking areas on every floor overlook the courtyard.
The 88-room iQ Hotel Roma is located in a five-story building that was formerly a bank about a 10-minute walk from the Termini train station. This no-frills property is all about modern functionality, with a concept that encourages guests to help themselves (vending machines, laundry room, and even a self-serve bar). There is a covered rooftop garden, a play area for kids, fitness center, and sauna. Rooms are modern and unfussy with mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs. No-frills service in an upscale hotel might not be to everyone's taste, the nearby Welcome Piram Hotel is a good alternative.
