This 72-room hotel is located on a cobbled street in an out-of-the-way spot near Termini Station, overlooking Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. It's a mid-range option with some classic charm (such as marble tiles and chandeliers in the lobby), but also busy, tacky prints in Caffe Papa Sisto and some of the rooms. Room decor is traditional and homey, and modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, stocked minibars, and electric kettles. Marble bathrooms are clean and suites offer large Jacuzzi tubs. Perks here include the rooftop garden with great views of Rome, as well as a free daily breakfast buffet with espresso and cappuccino. However, there are pesky fees for Internet and parking.

Mecenate Palace is located on a cobbled street near Termini Station, a bit far from most major sights. It is right next to Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, a beautiful church first constructed in the fifth century (and majorly revamped in the 18th century), and within walking distance of Termini station.
Rome is known as the "Eternal City," and is full of ancient ruins, museums, cafes, shopping, and famous monuments. Some of the most popular attractions include St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. Some of the best designer shopping can be found on Via Condotti, and excellent people watching and restaurants can be found around Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori.
