Photos and Review by Oyster.com Investigators

Pros

  • Conveniently located near several sights and restaurants
  • Classic, comfortable rooms with floral curtains and neutral tones
  • All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and marble bathrooms
  • Health club includes a small fitness center, spa, and nice sauna
  • Lovely restaurant with a terrace and 24-hour room service
  • Small indoor pool with an open roof

Cons

  • Fitness center is small
  • Treatment rooms in spa are stark and not very calming

Bottom Line

The 76-room L'Hotel Porto Bay attracts mainly business travelers due to its location near financial firms and offices. The decor is classic -- some might say on the verge of dated -- but many guests praise its small size and comfortable rooms. Beyond the large marble lobby, the rooms are elegant, if a bit bland, with floral curtains and neutral tones. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and marble bathrooms. The hotel does have a spa with a nice sauna, though stark treatment rooms aren't particularly inviting. Hotel highlights include an attractive restaurant with a nice terrace, a small gym, and an indoor pool with an open roof.

Oyster Hotel Review

 Location

In Bela Vista, Sao Paulo's Little Italy

L'Hotel Porto Bay is located in Bela Vista -- often referred to as Bixiga --, Sao Paulo's Little Italy. The neighborhood right below the central district of the city, Bela Vista has been a diverse area for a long time, but an influx of Italians beginning at the start of the 20th century made it what it is today. It is known for great Italian food and theaters. Though the nightlife is not as lively as it was in the 80s, this is still a fun spot after dark.

With a population around 18 million, Sao Paulo is a huge city. Not only is it the largest megalopolis in South America, it's also the third largest city in the world. The restaurants here are world class, the art and music scene are excellent, the nightlife unstoppable, and the shopping fantastic. The pace here is faster, and in many ways, one could say Sao Paulo is the New York to Rio de Janeiro's Los Angeles.

  • 13-minute drive to Mercado Municipal, a beautiful market, or 24 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to the Monument to Latin America, or 39 minutes via public transportation
