Cons

  • Bathrooms lack privacy -- they are separated from the room by a drape, not a door
  • No pool or spa on-site
  • Mini-fridges by request, depending upon availability
  • Some complaints of noise
  • Pricey fee for valet parking

Bottom Line

This upscale boutique hotel has a location right by the river, on the northern edge of the Historic District. It has 75 rooms (though some are small for the price) with outstanding bathrooms and unique high-end decor inspired by the period when 18th-century British maritime settlers landed in Savannah (think: headboards of red velvet and sturdy dark wood, faux fur throws, leather and brass accents). One of the most attractive features of this boutique is the hopping rooftop bar with river views, which is popular with locals and tourists alike. But it lacks some amenities standard in properties of this category (and high price point), such as a pool or a spa.

Oyster Hotel Review

The Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront, Autograph Collection

Location

On the northern edge of the Historic District, right by the river

The Bohemian is located right the river, a few minutes’ walk to dozens of restaurants and shops. There are a couple of parks within a few blocks of the hotel, and many major tourist attractions can be reached on foot.

The Historic District is the reason to visit Savannah -- it has that old Southern charm, with numerous parks and tons of well-kept, architecturally stunning historical buildings. The nightlife isn't as lively as in other big cities in the South, but most of Savannah's bars (like infamous Pinkie Master's) are in this neighborhood.

The Historic District is bordered by the Savannah River and Forsyth Park, and includes the Riverfront and City Market areas. Riverfront is a (somewhat) recently revitalized area, with restaurants, galleries, shops, and bars. City Market is a more diverse and casual version of Riverfront, with lots of live music and vendors selling Savannah-made ware.

  • 20-minute drive to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport
  • 2-minute walk to various restaurants and bars in the Historic District
  • 3-minute walk to City Market, a casual eating scene
  • 7-minute walk to Telfair Museum of Art
  • 13-minute walk to the Savannah College of Art and Design
  • 15-minute walk to Roundhouse Railroad Museum
  • 20-minute walk to Forsythe Park, one of Savannah's most popular public spaces
  • 5-minute drive to The Savannah Golf Club
  • 7-minute drive to King-Tisdell Cottage, the Museum of Black History
