The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician

The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Distance: 1.5 mi from Scottsdale + Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa - Phoenix
The 60-room Canyon Suites at The Phoenician is a Scottsdale landmark among luxury hotels. This intimate boutique is located on the greater grounds of The Phoenician Resort and is one of the highest ranked properties in the region. This smaller site offers personalized service, a private pool with poolside food service, and beautifully landscaped surroundings. The views -- looking out to Camelback Mountain and the golf course -- are gorgeous. The pool and golf course are the two hot spots here, but other areas of Canyon Suites are elegant inside and out. There is a full service spa and fitness center with classes and a sauna, free chauffeured Mercedes around the resort and to Fashion Square, and wine happy hours hosted by sommeliers. This hotel definitely exudes prestige appropriate for its price point, although rooms aren't quite as luxe as one might expect at a hotel of this caliber. While The Suites is kid-friendly, the main resort may be the better option for families since the main clientele here are those celebrating honeymoons and anniversaries and traveling on business.
Hotel Valley Ho

Hotel Valley Ho Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Distance: 2.5 mi from Scottsdale + Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa - Phoenix
An institution in Scottsdale since it opened in 1956, the Valley Ho exudes a retro charm that draws the young and the hip. In 2005, a full renovation brought it into the 21st century, while retaining (and refreshing) the cool 1950s style. Grounds are immaculate, the pool is one of the liveliest in Phoenix, rooms are stylish and colorful, and both restaurants serve tasty food. But it's worth comparing rates with the nearby Hotel Indigo, which offers free high-speed Wi-Fi and free covered parking.
Hermosa Inn

Hermosa Inn Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Distance: 2.6 mi from Scottsdale + Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa - Phoenix
Hermosa Inn is an intimate, romantic southwestern retreat, with 34 casita-style rooms on six sprawling acres, surrounded by cacti and flowering plants. The attractive pool has palm trees and cushy cabanas, and the Blue Door Spa Suite offers massages and facials. During chillier nights, guests can use the fire pits and sit back with a glass of wine (try the fire pits facing Camelback Mountain for stunning sunset views.) The higher-end Casita rooms come with cathedral ceilings, fireplaces, and private patios. The lower-priced Rancho rooms are just as tastefully decorated, and most include beehive fireplaces. The area is safe and residential (great for a morning jog), but that doesn't mean it lacks an interesting history. Lon's -- the inn's gourmet outdoor restaurant -- is named after Lon Megargee, a cowboy and artist whose home was once on the property. Lon's artwork is displayed in several areas of the resort, including the Last Drop Bar, where guests can order tapas and cocktails. For wine lovers, Hermosa Inn has been regularly recognized by Wine Spectator; ask for a tour of the extensive wine cellar.
Hotel Indigo Scottsdale

Hotel Indigo Scottsdale Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Distance: 2.7 mi from Scottsdale + Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa - Phoenix
Hipsters and young couples will love the Indigo’s retro decor, lively vibe, and convenient location near Scottsdale’s trendiest nightclubs. Just don’t come expecting a quiet night. Earplugs are provided to help with the click-clack from the hard Pergo floors and thumping nightclub next door. For retro vibe with a little less noise, check out the Hotel Valley Ho.
3 Palms

3 Palms Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Distance: 4.8 mi from Scottsdale + Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa - Phoenix
The 3 Palms may look like a motel on the outside, but this affordable Scottsdale boutique has tasteful, contemporary rooms, solid freebies (including self-parking and Wi-Fi), and friendly service. The big, heated pool is impressive, and downtown Scottsdale is only a five-minute drive away. The bathrooms are a bit small, though.
