Schlosshotel Im Grunewald

Schlosshotel Im Grunewald Rating: 5.0 Pearls

Set in a quiet residential neighborhood far from the city center, the 53-room Schlosshotel Im Grunewald is a small but opulent five-pearl boutique that was once a private mansion. The interiors have since been redesigned by Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld to dazzling effect. The standard Deluxe Rooms are small yet posh, offering free minibars and marble bathrooms with heated floors, and there are a handful of incredible suites. An indoor pool, full spa, and beautiful gardens provide plenty of space for the well-heeled traveler to relax, and the nearby Grunewald forest is a great natural perk. The service is top-notch on paper, with personal drivers and translators available, but not always so in practice. Non-smokers may not appreciate that the haze from the cigar lounge and designated smoking areas can intrude into the dining spaces. Travelers looking to sightsee should consider arranging for a car, or private driver, both of which the hotel can provide. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
Hotel Adlon Kempinski

Hotel Adlon Kempinski Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Hotel Adlon Kempinski is an elegant, classic hotel with a rich history. Its predecessor was one of the most popular hotels in Europe through World War II, hosting guests such as Charlie Chaplin and Josephine Baker. The original building was demolished, but after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a building inspired by the original was built on the same location near the Brandenburg Gate. This 382-room hotel still attracts A-list clientele -- this is where Michael Jackson dangled his baby son from a balcony in 2002. Luxurious rooms have heavy drapes, four-poster canopy beds, plush couches, and fresh cut roses. Marble bathrooms offer soaking tubs and heated floors. These inviting rooms, combined with the hotel's impressive amenities -- an indoor pool, full spa, fitness center, and variety of restaurants -- make this one of the best picks in Berlin.
Das Stue

Das Stue Rating: 5.0 Pearls

Located in Berlin’s diplomatic district, Das Stue is a boutique, luxury hotel with 79 chic rooms. From the elegant fine-dining restaurant to the cozy library, the hotel is immaculately decorated, offering the crème de la crème of hotel experiences. There is an indoor pool and a beautiful outdoor terrace. The location is a bit far from several of Berlin's tourist attractions, but there are some galleries, restaurants, and shops in the neighborhood. Guests looking for a more convenient location may want to check out Melia Berlin, a modern, upscale hotel near a transportation hub.
The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin

The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 303-room Ritz-Carlton, located near Postdamer Platz, is one of the most luxurious hotels in Berlin. The rooms are gorgeous in a classically elegant way, featuring mahogany furniture, rich curtains, plush bedding, and massive marble bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and showers. Modern amenities include touch-screen controls and large flat-screen TVs. Wi-Fi is available, but it comes with a pesky additional fee. The hotel has plenty of amenities, including a large spa, indoor pool, sauna, and fitness center. There are also several dining and drinking options on-site, along with 24-hour room service.
Grand Hyatt Berlin

Grand Hyatt Berlin Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The prestigious location and upscale atmosphere draw travelers to this luxury Hyatt in Berlin's city center. It's right off the historic Potsdamer Platz, a triumph of post-Cold War business development, and within walking distance to many of Berlin's attractions. It's an expensive hotel in an expensive part of town, with views of the city from The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin.
The Westin Grand Berlin

The Westin Grand Berlin Rating: 4.5 Pearls

In a neighborhood populated with upscale hotels, the 400-room Westin Grand Berlin stands out for being less opulent than many of its posh five-pearl competitors. Its interior atrium with lovely skylight makes a big first impression, but this monument of the 1980s excels in business casual rather than white-gloved formality. The conservative rooms are modern, but generic, and only the various themed suites and Spa Suites exceed expectations. Almost every public space doubles as a meeting venue, and it's not uncommon for events to be occurring throughout the airy lobby. Check out the nearby Hilton Hotel - Berlin for similar amenities and rates, or the Regent Berlin for something a bit more grand. There is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi, unless you're an SPG member.
Regent Berlin

Regent Berlin Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Located between the tree-lined Unter den Linden and the beautiful Gendarmenmarkt Square, the 195-room Regent Berlin is a luxury property with one of the best locations in the city. The hotel prides itself on great service and first-class amenities, delivering on both. Plenty of public transportation is nearby and private drivers are available. Large rooms and suites blend traditional elegance and modernity, with classical furnishings, impressive marble bathrooms, and Bose Hi-Fi entertainment systems -- but they could use a refresh. The Michelin-starred Fischers Fritz is one of Berlin's best restaurants, with prices to match, and a traditional English afternoon tea can be had in the hotel's wood-paneled lounge complete with a fireplace. A modern spa and fitness center round out the expected facilities. Regent Berlin consistently rates as one of city's best hotels. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
Holiday Inn Berlin City East

Holiday Inn Berlin City East Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 123-room Holiday Inn Berlin City East is an upper-mid-range hotel located a bit farther from the city center than most other hotels and away from popular tourist attractions. Rooms are quiet and particularly stylish with an attention to artistic accents along with flat-screen TVs and electric kettles. This property has much more personality than other hotels in the chain, from the rooms to the stylish bar that serves snacks and drinks. There is a free continental breakfast served in a bright dining area and Wi-Fi is free too. Younger guests looking for an affordable accommodation in a more central location may want to check out a hostel like Generator Berlin Mitte or ONE80 Hostels Berlin.
