The Plantation Inn

The Plantation Inn Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Distance: 0.1 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
One of Maui's most intimate properties, with 19 mostly courtyard-facing rooms and suites, a small pool, free breakfast from the top-notch Gerard's Restaurant, and a small staff that coddles guests, the Plantation Inn is a rare and lovely option in harborfront Lahaina -- but beaches are more than a five-minute drive away.
Best Western Pioneer Inn

Best Western Pioneer Inn Rating: 2.0 Pearls

Distance: 0.3 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
Not your typical Best Western, this century-old, 34-room inn is at the heart of the historic whaling town of Lahaina. Service is minimal, there's no gym, beach, or usable pool, and rooms are small and dated, but it's still a clean and comfortable budget option with a great location across from the Lahaina Harbor.
Outrigger Aina Nalu

Outrigger Aina Nalu Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Distance: 0.3 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
The Outrigger Aina Nalu is a mid-range condo property in the bustling, touristy town of Lahaina. Renovated units range from studios to two-bedroom condos. Though layout, views, and amenities vary widely, contemporary tropical decor and updated appliances are standard. Most units have full kitchens and laundry facilities, making them a good choice for guests who want to self cater. Hotel amenities and services are offered at a bare minimum and the beach is a five-minute drive away. Two outdoor pools are a nice touch. Rates are low for Maui, but fees for parking, cleaning, and linens add up. Compare rates at Marriott Maui Resort and Ocean Club for beach access, an interactive kids' pool, and dining options.
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort And Spa

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort And Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Distance: 0.6 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
One of the top powerhouse resorts on Kaanapali Beach, the four-pearl Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has a seemingly endless list of amenities, restaurants, a massive pool complex, modern rooms, and nightly luaus -- but there are major crowds, extra charges for parking and resort fees, and construction noise. Overall, the Hyatt Regency's massive grounds and friendly-but-impersonal service aren't too different from its Kaanapali competitors, like the Westin Maui. The major difference? While they're all technically located on the same great four-mile stretch of Kaanapali Beach, the Hyatt faces a stretch that's far narrower and not as convenient for swimming.
Lahaina Shores Beach Resort

Lahaina Shores Beach Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Distance: 0.7 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
Lahaina Shores Beach Resort offers leisure travelers an excellent home base from which to explore downtown Lahaina, Front Street, and West Maui. The resort's 199 condo-style rooms have light, tropical decor and are clean and comfortable with lanais and kitchenettes. Mountain and oceanfront views are available, but for travelers who can afford it, the views of the Pacific are worth the splurge. There's little in the way of amenities beyond a small outdoor, ocean-facing pool, and there's neither a bar nor a restaurant on-site.
Marriott Maui Resort and Ocean Club

Marriott Maui Resort and Ocean Club Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Distance: 2.9 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
This 422-room time-share hotel at the southern end of bustling Kaanapali Beach has large rooms, suites with full kitchens, a modern gym, and a myriad of family-friendly features. It's a perfectly good choice for families -- a great one if you can score one of the new, stylish oceanfront rooms. But the heavy family vibe might not suit other guests.
Kaanapali Alii

Kaanapali Alii Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Distance: 3.0 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
The upscale Kaanapali Ali consists of 184 one and two-bedroom apartments. They are privately-owned and decorated, but they’re all spacious and come with private balconies, sweeping views, and multiple bathrooms. The gorgeous Kaanapali beach is right outside, and there is no fee to use the resort’s fitness center, pool, and barbecue spot, or attend yoga classes. Plenty of restaurant and shops are within walking distance (although there are none on-site), and each unit features a fully-equipped kitchen. Nearby hotel options include the Westin Maui Resort & Spa and Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, which are slightly cheaper with similar amenities.
The Westin Maui Resort & Spa

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Distance: 3.2 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
The expansive Westin Maui Resort & Spa is an upscale property with direct access to swimmable Kaanapali Beach and popular Whalers' Village. There are a whopping 759 rooms with simple, Hawaiian-inspired decor (not quite as upscale as one may expect at a four-pearl hotel). With the number of guests and size of the resort, lines can be long and service is more efficient than personal. Prices here are lower than neighboring hotels, though, and this Westin offers a slew of above-average amenities like a five-pool aquatic playground, four restaurants, and a full-service spa and gym. Resort fees are annoying, but they're a common theme in Maui. If you're looking for fewer kids and an infinity pool, compare rates at the similarly priced Andaz Maui at Wailea -- but you'll lose the proximity to Whalers' Village.
Aston at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach

Aston at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Distance: 3.3 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
It's all about location at this 360-room condo-hotel on prime Kaanapali beachfront where inconsistent rooms range from luxe to dowdy, amenities are few and forgettable, and prices are steep. At least the fully equipped kitchens help take the sting out of Maui's otherwise expensive dining.
Kaanapali Beach Hotel

Kaanapali Beach Hotel Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Distance: 3.5 mi from Lahaina - Hawaii
A modest property that prides itself on being the "Most Hawaiian Resort," the 430-room Kaanapali Beach Hotel sits right on Kaanapali's four-mile beach. More affordable than many nearby resorts, this low-key hotel has a great tiki bar, free Hawaiian activities, and live nightly entertainment. Yet even after some renovations, rooms aren't anything special.
