White Elephant Village | Residences & Inn

White Elephant Village | Residences & Inn Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The big, luxurious one- to three-bedroom units at White Elephant Residences are a good choice for families and groups. Unlike vacation home rentals, these units come with the perks of a hotel stay -- daily housekeeping, a seasonal outdoor pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. There’s not much in terms of a communal feel, like you might find at an inn or smaller hotel, but that’s part of the allure for some. As to be expected, however, privacy and luxury don’t come cheap on this island.
The White Elephant Hotel

The White Elephant Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

THIS HOTEL HAS UNDERGONE MAJOR RENOVATIONS SINCE OUR VISIT. WE WILL UPDATE OUR REVIEW AND PHOTOS AS SOON AS WE CAN. White Elephant Hotel has a prime location, on the water and walkable to downtown. But to get a gorgeous view, be prepared to pay high prices -- which some guests say are too high since the rooms/cottages themselves aren't up to par. A spa and a fine dining restaurant give this luxury inn a boost -- but keep in mind there is no pool. Bottom line here is, if you have the money to spend for the waterfront location, this could be a good choice for you. But don't expect luxury in the rooms themselves.
The Veranda House

The Veranda House Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Nantucket tends to evoke an image of classic New England decor and luxury. The 18-room Veranda House offers luxury, but in a chic and modern setting that sets it apart from the many historic inns and hotels on the island. You’ll pay a good amount for these trendy rooms, but high rates come standard in the area. It's a great choice for young adults or couples, with a central downtown location and no children under 10 allowed.
Union Street Inn

Union Street Inn Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This charming, elegant B&B fits in nicely with the Nantucket atmosphere, and is the only inn on the island to provide a full, hot breakfast (thanks to its commercial kitchen). The rooms don’t come cheap, but then again, nothing on Nantucket does. And the fact that downtown is a mere three-minute walk may make it worth the price for some.
The Vanessa Noel Hotel

The Vanessa Noel Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Vanessa Noel's eight chic, minimalist rooms feel more New York City than Nantucket -- and as in New York City, some rooms and bathrooms are small (it's a historic building, though, so that is to be expected). The only common area for guests being the colorful Cafe V Bar, adjacent to the lobby, where breakfast is served daily in the high season. The location in a quiet residential neighborhood a couple blocks from downtown is quite convenient for guests wanting to explore the Nantucket scene.
The Wauwinet

The Wauwinet Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Guests come to Natucket to get away from it all -- and with a remote location away from downtown, The Wauwinet is about as away from it as you can get. The charming New England property is surrounded by both the bay and the ocean, and some (bayside) guest rooms offer amazing sunsets. One of the island's most loved restaurants is here, which is just another reason the rates are so high -- especially during the peak summer months.
Jared Coffin House

Jared Coffin House Rating: 3.5 Pearls

One of the oldest inns on the island, Jared Coffin House gives travelers a taste of Nantucket history and classic New England style. Some of the rooms and bathrooms are small, but all combine antique-style furnishings with modern features, such as flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The inn, open year-round and centrally located near the downtown area, also features the elegant and popular Nantucket Prime restaurant.
Centerboard Inn

Centerboard Inn Rating: 3.0 Pearls

THIS HOTEL HAS BEEN RENOVATED SINCE OUR VISIT. WE WILL UPDATE OUR PHOTOS AS SOON AS WE CAN. For an authentic New England inn experience, the Centerboard Inn is a great choice -- offering up an historic Nantucket home close to all the shopping and dining of the downtown area, as well as a short walk to the Children's Beach. The inn features charming rooms, each with its own decor and feel, and an innkeeper that creates a true bed-and-breakfast-style stay. The entire property was renovated from head to toe in 2012, introducing brighter interiors with modern beach-chic decor. But some rooms and bathrooms are a bit tight on space.
The Cottages at Boat Basin

The Cottages at Boat Basin Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Cottages & Lofts at Boat Basin are perfect for families and groups looking for something other than a typical hotel or B&B stay. The self-contained cottages and lofts offer all the perks of a private vacation rental with the benefit of hotel features such as daily housekeeping and access to a nearby spa. Pet-lovers will be happy, too, because furry members of the family are allowed within certain cottages for an extra fee. The location directly on the Harbor means the views are fairly spectacular, too.
