Grand Hyatt Santiago

Grand Hyatt Santiago Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Grand Hyatt is one of the largest hotels in Santiago and has a resort-style atmosphere with lush grounds and an outdoor pool and waterfall. Its circular high-rise structure holds 310 rooms and spacious suites that include modern amenities, beige interiors, and black and white accents. Huge windows let in great city views, but ask for a higher floor to guarantee those picturesque snow-capped Andes. The hotel appeals to both business and leisure guests with its clay tennis courts, jogging path, spa, fitness center, and ample event space. Transport via Mercedes or mini-bus is available 24 hours a day, and private wine tours can be arranged. Two bars and three international restaurants include a high-end Japanese option, as well as Senso for Mediterranean food and an outstanding Chilean wine selection. Executive Level guests will receive more freebies, but everyone else should expect to pay high prices for Wi-Fi and breakfast.
Noi Vitacura

Noi Vitacura Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The luxurious NOI Vitacura Hotel is located near the affluent Vitacura neighborhood, known for its fashionable clothing and furniture, elite schools, and one of the most exclusive shopping thoroughfares in Santiago, Calle Alonse de Cordova. The building is a stunning masterpiece of modern architecture, towering with elegance and grandeur. Inside, the 87 rooms have wide, floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in lots of natural light, and decor that's chic and cozy at the same time. The rooms come with automatic curtains, sheets imported from Portugal, phones with video conferencing, and beautiful pristine bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and showers. There are two restaurants and two bars on the property, and all are decidedly upscale; the Piegari serves classic Italian fare with the backdrop of a lovely never-ending waterfall, while the Tramonto Bar & Terrace sits on the hotel’s rooftop and offers magnificent views of the Andes Mountains.
Regal Pacific Hotel Santiago

Regal Pacific Hotel Santiago Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 104-room Regal Pacific Hotel is in Las Condes, the heart of Santiago’s commercial district. The ambiance of the hotel is refined, but visitors expecting a true luxury experience may be disappointed, as the decor throughout is dated. The large rooms are sophisticated (though in need of an update), and feature spacious living areas, coffee trays or wet bars, and lovely marble bathrooms, which are arguably the most luxurious part of the room. Some rooms have magnificent views of the Andes Mountains. Freebies include Wi-Fi, breakfast, and the hotel has two restaurants: La Fattoria Restaurant, known for its Mediterranean, Italian, and local dishes; and Queen's Piano Bar, serving light fare and cocktails.
InterContinental Santiago

InterContinental Santiago Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Hotel InterContinental in Santiago is housed in three buildings in Las Condes, a fast-growing business hub in the Chilean capital. Because of its location, the hotel is geared toward business clientele, with 377 rooms and an indoor pool and fitness center. The main building is the Vitacura Tower, which is connected to the Club Tower by a bridge. A spacious area that houses the conference and event rooms (20 in total) divides the two towers. For rooms, the Club Tower is the newer wing, and every floor has its own name and style after a unique geographic area of the country. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and CD players, but the Club Tower rooms are a step up in terms of modern amenities and decor. Wi-Fi and use of the business center come with fees (irritating to business travelers), but the lounge areas are great for impromptu meetings and post-work cocktails. The hotel is near a number of great restaurants, and the city's historic center can be reached by taxi, bus, or metro.
The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago

The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Ritz-Carlton is a stylish, sophisticated 205-room hotel in the suburb of Las Condes. Its common spaces impress: The lobby has rich wood paneling and shiny marble floors; and both the pool and fitness center are enclosed by glass domes and offer amazing views of Santiago. But the rooms are less impressive, with chain-like decor and some wear and tear (such as stains in the carpets). They do have modern amenities, though, including flat-screen TVs, MP3-capable alarm clocks, and stocked minibars with an assortment of high-end liquors. Luxurious, clean bathrooms feature marble finishes, with big soaking tubs and separate walk-in showers. After a long day of sightseeing, visitors can head up to 100 Grandos Bar for cocktails or unwind at the small spa.
Hotel Kennedy

Hotel Kennedy Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Hotel Kennedy's mirrored glass high-rise exterior resembles a corporate office, and appeals to a business crowd. The stark look continues in the lobby, with floor-to-ceiling gray marble and brass fixtures. Overall, the decor feels slightly outdated and in need of refurbishing, but some spots, such as the sitting area -- with dark wood paneling and rich rugs -- have more personality. The hotel has 133 rooms and suites with neutral tones, duvets, desks, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and spacious bathrooms with shower/tub combos. Breakfast, and use of the outdoor pool and fitness center, are free, but there's a fee for in-room Wi-Fi. Dining and drinking on the property is a highlight (the terrace next the rooftop pool is a nice spot), and there are solid happy hour specials. The location in Las Condes is within easy driving distance to many areas of Santiago, via Avenida Kennedy -- a busy road that can create some traffic noise.
Best Western Premier Marina Las Condes

Best Western Premier Marina Las Condes Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Best Western Las Condes, which finished construction in 2010, is an uncommonly modern, stylish member of the Best Western family. Rooms feature sleek decor, wood furnishings, well-stocked minibars, flat-screen TVs, and contemporary bathrooms; some have great views. Free breakfast and Wi-Fi are standard perks at the Best Westerns, but Premier Marina Las Condes' glamorous rooftop pool, well-equipped fitness center, and cute street-side cafe exceed expectations. And with Santiago's best shopping just five minutes away, this Best Western is made (and priced) for a more upscale crowd.
Hotel Plaza San Francisco

Hotel Plaza San Francisco Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Just from looking at the facade of downtown Santiago’s 233-room Hotel Plaza San Francisco, you can tell that it is an old property. Step inside and the European-style decor starts to feel more blatantly outdated than purposely retro or vintage. The adequately sized rooms -- full of rich fabrics and woods -- seem clean and comfortable, and come with a number of amenities, but overall could use some remodeling and modernization. The free Wi-Fi tends to be unreliable, a major drawback for business travelers (though the hotel’s 3,000-plus square feet of meeting and event space is a plus). For a decent meal, there is the acclaimed Bristol Restaurant that specializes in Chilean flavors, and for nearby sightseeing, Plaza de Armas and La Moneda Palace are within walking distance.
NH Ciudad de Santiago

NH Ciudad de Santiago Rating: 4.0 Pearls

NH Ciudad de Santiago is located in Providencia, a block from a metro line that can transport guests to the nearby areas of downtown Santiago and Las Condes. It suits both tourists and business travelers, as it’s close to art galleries, corporate offices, bars, and boutiques. The tastefully furnished lobby has a relaxing, laid-back ambiance, and its rich, dark-brown and red color schemes give it a chic touch. The 122 suites also have modern decor, but more in a serene, minimalistic way, with wide windows and soft white, beige-and-brown tones. They're certainly spacious, featuring separate living room areas, sofa beds, work desks, two TVs, walk-in closets, and large bathrooms. Guests have access to a free breakfast buffet, but there’s also an on-site restaurant.
Hotel Plaza El Bosque Park

Hotel Plaza El Bosque Park Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The stylish 179-room Hotel Plaza El Bosque Park was built with the modern business traveler in mind. Located along El Bosque Avenue in Las Condes, it is surrounded by banks, stores, commercial buildings, and restaurants. Each of the cozy rooms is sleekly decorated and comes with LCD flat-screen TVs, wired and Wi-Fi internet access, and in-room safes. (Upgrade from standard to executive for a small but handy kitchen). The grander accommodations, such as the Presidential suite, are much more spacious and come with luxuries such as a separate dining room. For a quick bite, guests can grab a midday snack or cocktail in the lobby bar. Or, for a more formal occasion, the hotel has two on-site restaurants that offer nice views and Chilean cuisine. Other perks include a game room with pool and card games, a heated pool and Jacuzzi, sauna, spa, and a large fitness center -- all helpful in unwinding after a day at work (or touring the sites).
