Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino

Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Located in the bustling cruise-ship center of Oranjestad, the modern, upscale 556-room Renaissance hotel (a Marriott property) offers an exceptional casino (one of Aruba's best) and its own private island (an alternative to a beach). It might not feel exotic -- it's attached to a shopping mall -- but it has great food and retail fun.

Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort

Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A family-run hotel opened in 1990, Amsterdam Manor is an upscale, casual 72-room Eagle Beach boutique ideal for those who want the conveniences of larger resorts but fewer people. The hotel is across the road from one of Aruba’s more popular beaches, and there is a waterfall pool on-site. Renovations in late 2014 brought brighter colors, cosmetic upgrades, and some expanded space. Generously sized rooms have a contemporary Dutch colonial decor and come with impressively stocked kitchens and outdoor space; some bathrooms have whirlpool tubs. Two restaurants (one directly on the sands of Eagle Beach) and two bars keep bellies full, and you'll find free snorkel gear, bikes, and a concierge in the lobby.

Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A comfortable, modern getaway for families with a great pool, gym, spa, and casino, the Marriott Resort is fancier than its only neighbors, the Marriott Surf Club and the Marriott Ocean Club. This Marriott is a bit farther from the airport than most Aruban resorts, but it's only a three-minute walk to the High Rise complex.

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort and Casino

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort and Casino Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Gorgeous pools, a reliable kids club, and a soft-sand beach in a modern hotel near the High-Rise shopping/dining/drinking complex -- the Hyatt is virtually flawless, even if it does lack local charm. Rooms are clean and modern, and have flat-screen TVs, excellent beds, and iPod docks -- they're among the best in Aruba, excusing the tiny balconies. Zoia Spa reopened in May 2012 following a complete renovation, and now offers a full range of tratments and salon services.

Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa

Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Toward the southern edge of the Low Rise hotel zone with garden grounds and the beautiful the backdrop of Eagle Beach's widest stretch of sand, Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa feels like a true getaway. It's only got 72 rooms, but this upscale boutique has gaggle of space and features that could cover a large resort -- from a mini-market and restaurants, to yoga, car rental, and a spa. However, more features for fewer guests translates to a pretty big nightly price; you can grab rooms at boutiques like Amsterdam Manor or even some High Rise hotels for less -- although, Manchebo's uncrowded, wellness-oriented vibe is tough to top.

A lively, modern resort in Aruba's tourist center, the Occidental draws young couples, families, and retirees -- all playing together on the hotel's active beach.
