The 42-room Aviatic Hotel was built in 1856, and its facade has a stately and austere appearance. The inside, however, mixes historical appeal (crown moldings, statuesque busts, lantern pendant lighting) with modern comforts and conveniences (flat-screen TVs, contemporary decor, free Wi-Fi). Although rooms are on the small side (fairly standard in Paris), they feel larger thanks to big windows and mirrored closet doors. The bathrooms are narrow, however, and some rooms feature twin beds pushed close together. A quaint dining area features a daily breakfast menu (at cost), and the location in the chic, artsy Saint-Germain des Pres area near several metro stations makes this a great hub from which to explore the city.
