Island Shangri-La

Island Shangri-La Rating: 5.0 Pearls

Arguably the most luxurious hotel in Hong Kong, the 565-room Shangri-La features opulent details -- including the largest Chinese silk painting in the world, and TVs in every bathroom. Elegant rooms are outfitted with silk throws, gilded wooden furniture, crystal chandeliers, and high-tech features such as large flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Amenities include an outdoor pool, a well-equipped fitness center, and a spa. They are not exclusive to guests, though, as Health Club members also have access to them. The Shangri-La has steep rates, but most guests claim the hefty price tag is worth it, particularly when staying in rooms with harbor views.
Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Mandarin Oriental is one of the top luxury hotels in Hong Kong, and a popular choice among well-heeled families and business travelers. It has 501 elegant rooms featuring contemporary Chinese decor, large windows with wonderful views, and gorgeous bathrooms with sleek glass-enclosed showers and bathtubs (except Study Rooms, which have walk-in showers only). Highlights include a nice spa, a modern fitness center, upscale services such as floor butlers, and a convenient location in the heart of Central. There is also a wide array of dining options, including three Michelin-star restaurants.
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The gorgeous Landmark hotel is one of the more intimate luxury options in Hong Kong. With a great location in Central, the city's business hub (also home to clubs and restaurants), this hotel stands out from nearby competitors because its size: It's a boutique property with only 113 rooms (the Conrad and JW Marriott both have over 500). The interior design is exceptional: The lobby, restaurant, and rooms feature warm brown and silver tones, with Asian-inspired accents (typical of the Mandarin brand). Though the Landmark does feature kid-friendly amenities, the hotel caters largely to business travelers and couples; the gorgeous spa is one of the hotel's highlights, with treatment rooms, a Turkish Hammam, a pool, and a spa cafe. And the spacious, high-tech rooms feature marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs, iPod docks, at least three flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi (for an additional fee).

Lkf Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Hotel LKF is in Lan Kwai Fong, a lively area of Hong Kong that's bustling with bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and shops. This 95-room luxury boutique hotel is part of the Rhombus brand, and lives up to chain's reputation for modern, edgy decor. The stylish rooms are spacious by Hong Kong standards, and feature flat-screen TVs, DVD players, large comfy beds, and bright-colored espresso machines. And the bathrooms are big and modern, with great soaking tubs nestled by a window with partial city views. Since it's a small boutique hotel, the amenities aren't plentiful -- just a small fitness center and a rooftop lounge/restaurant. But the views from the roof (where breakfast takes place) are amazing. Besides, most guests don't come here to stay in the hotel but for the action-packed neighborhood. That said, the neighborhood can be noisy at night, which the many business travelers who stay here might not appreciate.
JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong

JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This 602-room hotel is located on the western border of the Central district, within walking distance to attractions, the subway, and corporate offices. The property is set atop the famous Pacific Place shopping mall, and boasts wonderful amenities such as casual and fine dining options; a spa complete with a sauna, a solarium and treatment rooms; an uber-modern fitness center with free poolside classes on weekends; and stunning views. Rooms are modern, high-tech, and luxurious, and have marble bathrooms with separate showers and tubs. All rooms can sleep up to four, so even though this hotel attracts mostly business travelers, it’s a good pick for families, too.
Conrad Hong Kong

Conrad Hong Kong Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The upscale Conrad Hong Kong is housed in a gorgeous skyscraper in Central, taking up the upper-level floors of a large, high-end shopping center. Shops, restaurants, and public transportation can be found right below the hotel, and there are also plenty of amenities within the hotel itself, including four restaurants, two bars, a rooftop pool, and a well-equipped, 24-hour fitness center. But there's no spa, unlike at the slightly more upscale Peninsula. Luxurious rooms are outfitted in gold tones and have large windows -- many of which open up to gorgeous views -- flat-screen TVs, and large marble bathrooms with separate showers and tubs. It's popular among business travelers because of the location, but those who prefer to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui should compare prices with the Peninsula and the Langham across the water.
