Arguably one of the swankiest properties in Melbourne's Central Business District, the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins features 363 elegant rooms and suites, many with views of Phillip Bay. The Club Sofitel Lounge is a gorgeous, high-ceilinged business lounge with free buffet breakfast service and evening cocktails and canapes. The property also has multiple business suites and event rooms, including a massive ballroom that can seat 828. There are excellent spots to eat and drink on-site, from the organic fine-dining No 35 restaurant to the casual Sofi's Lounge where English-style afternoon tea is served. The hotel also has a great fitness center with gym-grade equipment and massage chairs, but it lacks a swimming pool, a slight shocker for such an upscale place with so many features. Rooms are luxurious and bright with floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful gray marble bathrooms, but there is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi.
