Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta

Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 244-room Four Seasons Atlanta certainly looks grand -- the exterior and entryway have the scale and decoration one would expect from a southern Four Seasons. The rooms, however, leave a bit to be desired. They are pleasant enough and have some of the bells and whistles expected at a property of this price point (down pillows, plush bathrobes, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks), but decor is generic, the bathrooms are quite small, and Wi-Fi comes with a fee. Suites, however, are much more stylish, wiht luxurious beds and stunning viewws. The rest of the hotel, as well, is more in line with its five-pearl status: There's a lovely indoor saltwater lap pool with Jacuzzi and free poolside chilled towels, ice water, and Evian spritzes; a well-outfitted, modern fitness center; an acclaimed restaurant; and a full-service spa.

Loews Atlanta Hotel

Loews Atlanta Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 414-room Loews Atlanta hotel brings style and luxury to Midtown. Rooms are bright with floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious bathrooms have soaking tubs and TVs. Upscale amenities include a modern spa and fitness center along with a swanky cocktail bar in the lobby. Convenient dining options range from an innovative restaurant to a gourmet snack bar, but many restaurants and bars are in walking distance as well. Wi-Fi is available for a fee and parking is pricey, although free transportation is on offer within a three-mile radius in a stylish Mercedes GL450.

W Atlanta - Midtown

W Atlanta - Midtown Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Of the three W hotels in Atlanta, the W Midtown has the most toned down design. Upscale amenities -- including a restaurant by Jean-George and chic lobby bar -- remain, but the pool is less scene-y and more family-friendly than at other locations. Even the hip Whiskey Park bar on-site (a branch of the Gerber Group) maintains a cool, sophisticated vibe without being too pretentious. Large rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and the signature W purple color palate. This is one of the trendier spots in Midtown, but is known for a mellow atmosphere. Those hoping to party all night may prefer the W Atlanta Buckhead.

Artmore Hotel

Artmore Hotel Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 102-room boutique in Midtown Atlanta blends some of its original 1920's Spanish architecture with modern, stylish interior decor. The Artmore's garden courtyard, with brown wicker lounge chairs and a stone fountain, is a highlight, and offers shelter from the city's hubbub. Rooms are upscale, with bright decor in shades of red, white, and cream, and come with up-to-date technology: flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi. But the hotel lacks an on-site restaurant and pool, and you'll have to drive to see the sites in Downtown Atlanta.
