Boscolo Venezia, Autograph Collection

Boscolo Venezia, Autograph Collection Rating: 5.0 Pearls

A luxurious, 72-room converted palazzo in the northern edge of Venice, Boscolo Venezia Autograph Collection is a quiet retreat from the chaotic heart of the city. The rare, private garden and spa with hot tub, sauna, and steam room are highlights. Rooms have classic decor and Venetian portraits, but upgrading to a Junior Suite gets guests more space and style -- these rooms have high ceilings and intricate crown molding. The hotel's location is far from Venice's main attractions, but it does offer free water taxi service to St. Mark's Square and Murano.
Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa

Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa Rating: 5.0 Pearls

A 79-room hotel in a 16th-century converted convent, the Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa is a quiet retreat located on the island of Giudecca. A free private water taxi transports guests across the lagoon. The expansive grounds and gardens are a highlight, with rooms overlooking either the garden or lagoon. Understated rooms are big with high ceilings, though some guests may feel they have maintained too much monastic minimalism and could use some additional polish.
Bauer Hotel

Bauer Hotel Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 119-room Bauer Hotel is a convenient two-minute walk from St. Mark's Square in the heart of Venice. This exclusive Art Deco-influenced property has a grand lobby full of gold accents and chandeliers as well as traditionally decorated rooms with high ceilings and big, modern bathrooms. The hotel features a restaurant and two two bars; Bar Canale has an outdoor terrace and Grand Canal views. There is nice variety in the daily breakfast buffet, but rooms lack tea or coffee facilities. Rates are typically lower at the nearby Hotel Saturnia, but the Bauer is arguably a bit more elegant.
Ca'Sagredo Hotel

Ca'Sagredo Hotel Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 42 luxurious rooms of Ca’Sagredo were designed in aristocratic Venetian style. This restored pink palazzo on the Grand Canal has maintained its original grandeur, including salons filled with frescoes and sweeping staircases. Huge rooms have plush furnishings and marble bathrooms; the terrace along the canal is a scenic place for a drink. This is one of the most decadent hotel experiences in Venice, and it's right on the Grand Canal, within walking distance of St. Mark's Square.
Luna Hotel Baglioni

Luna Hotel Baglioni Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Luna Hotel Baglioni is a luxury chain hotel with 104 rooms located less than a two-minute walk from the shops, restaurants, and architecture of Saint Mark’s Square. The classic hotel delivers a high level of service in a beautiful setting. Canova, an award-winning restaurant serving Italian and international cuisine, is on-site along with a café and full bar. Prices are a lower at the Bauer Hotel, but it’s farther from Saint Mark’s and less luxurious.
Aqualux Hotel Spa Suite & Terme

Aqualux Hotel Spa Suite & Terme Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Aqualux is a luxury hotel and spa housed in a glassy and super modern building on the shores of Lake Garda. The 113-room hotel opened in 2012, and it aims to please: the grounds are beautifully landscaped, the free breakfast is excellent -- it even includes make-your-own juices -- and the on-site spa is superb. Even the most inexpensive rooms at the Aqualux have space to move around in, and all rooms include balconies. For a hotel of this caliber, Wi-Fi should be, but isn't free. The outdoor garden and numerous pools provide plenty of distraction. The hotel's minimalist aesthetic might not be for everyone, especially those who prefer a more rustic Mediterranean vacation. Amenities at the Aqualux are comparable to those of the nearby Hotel Caesius Thermae SPA, which also has stunning grounds, but is more traditional in design.
Antony Palace Hotel

Antony Palace Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Antony Palace Hotel is a new and modern hotel in Marcon, a commercial area about 20 minutes from Venice. The 140 doubles, triples, family rooms, and suites are spacious and stylishly decorated. There’s not much in the way of public transportation, although the hotel provides a regular shuttle bus to and from Venice and the Marco Polo Airport for a small fee. There are two restaurants with limited menus, and the rooftop gym is a nice touch. Overall, it's a good value for travelers who want modern luxury for much less than a Venice hotel and don't mind the removed location.
Savoia & Jolanda Hotel

Savoia & Jolanda Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 51-room, upscale Savoia & Jolanda Hotel is an elegant and traditionally styled property that is spread over two buildings -- one overlooking a waterfront promenade, the other a piazza and pretty church. A buffet breakfast of hot and cold items is included, and guests can dine on a terrace overlooking the canal -- the restaurant opens to non-guests, as well, for lunch and dinner. Interiors are typically classical Venetian and all rooms are air-conditioned with marble-finished bathrooms. While suites have superb views over the water, noise from the restaurants and street can also be an issue. The central location near St. Mark's Square and lagoon-front setting bump up the rates a little -- but it's still one of the cheaper options in the area. Trip Advisor says 50 rooms but all other sites say 51.
Hotel Adlon

Hotel Adlon Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 69-room Hotel Adlon is a stylish four-pearl beachfront property with a convenient location for daytrips to Venice and Padua (the hotel can arrange transportation to Venice and has secure parking). A heated swimming pool with lounge chairs overlooks the beach. There is an on-site restaurant with beach views, cozy bar, fitness center, and kids' play room. The clean, chic rooms have charming photographs of Italy and small balconies; some have ocean views. Breakfast is served buffet style and bike rentals are free but there is a charge for Wi-Fi.
Hotel Plaza

Hotel Plaza Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This contemporary, 209-room hotel in Mestre is a 10-minute train ride from Venice. This urban location lacks the charm of central Venice, but does offer a parking lot. Rooms are either big and contemporary with a modern, minimal style or not renovated and dull. A welcoming restaurant has an open kitchen and a nice bar provides an evening gathering space. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are free, but some rooms experience noise from the nearby train station.
