Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa

Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This upscale resort is a sprawling property on the Santa Ana Pueblo reservation 15 miles north of Albuquerque. Its gorgeous natural setting under vivid blue skies offers panoramic views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Trails lead directly to the Rio Grande and the resort features numerous activities, as well as a golf course, restaurants, and several pools. There are daily resort and Wi-Fi fees, which are not charged at the lower-priced -- but more urban -- Sandia Resort and Casino.
Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown

Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown Rating: 3.5 Pearls

This 295-room Sheraton high-rise is located in the trendy Uptown district, close to shopping and restaurants. The hotel has contemporary interiors: There's a hip lobby lounge, a spacious business center with big computer monitors, and clean rooms with white bedding and dark wood furniture. Some of the east-facing rooms have excellent views of the mountains. The circular indoor pool and Jacuzzi are appealing, though the Albuquerque Marriott's indoor/outdoor pool is larger and nicer. The daily fee for Wi-Fi and minor wear and tear in the rooms are downsides.
Nativo Lodge

Nativo Lodge Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Straddling I-25, the Nativo Lodge is a centrally located, mid-range hotel with an impressive display of unique Native American art in the lobby . Out back, there’s a heated, half-indoor/half-outdoor pool and a teepee containing a hookah lounge. The lack of high-tech features like iPod docks and flat-screen TVs in the guest rooms means that nearby chain hotels such as the Staybridge Suites offer more amenities -- if less cultural interest -- at the same price point.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Albuquerque Airport

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Albuquerque Airport Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This Holiday Inn Express delivers everything expected of a business- and family-friendly mid-range hotel, plus a few unexpected extras, like spacious and surprisingly sleek rooms. The nice heated-indoor pool and decently equipped fitness center, plus free breakfast (standard at Holiday Inn Express locations), are added perks.
Staybridge Suites Albuquerque - Airport

Staybridge Suites Albuquerque - Airport Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The business-friendly Staybridge Suites Albuquerque Airport provides everything expected from a mid-range chain hotel. The free Wi-Fi, spacious rooms, meeting spaces, guest laundry, free breakfast, and kitchenettes make extended stays convenient. However, guest complaints have surfaced about attention to detail and inconsistent breakfast service. Extra perks, though, include a market for snacks, a small media room, a putting green, barbecue grills, a Jacuzzi, and a nice fitness center. Overall, though, the nearby Holiday Inn Express Suites is a better value at the same price point.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Albuquerque Midtown

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Albuquerque Midtown Rating: 3.0 Pearls

For a mid-range chain hotel, this Holiday Inn Suites offers more than most at a price point below its competitors. Rooms have modern amenities and kitchenettes, and the lobby is handsome with a fireplace, water fountain, and clean tan tile floors. There’s not much in the way of regional decor, but most guests don’t come to chain hotels for a slice of local culture. The free hot breakfast served in a great room beside the lobby has more to offer than the typical continental breakfast, and in the evening free cookies and milk are served. There’s a nice heated pool available (open seasonally), but the lack of a Jacuzzi stands out (many other mid-range hotels nearby have one). Overall, the hotel offers good value, with a central location and perks such as a free shuttle.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Albuquerque Airport

Homewood Suites by Hilton Albuquerque Airport Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Homewood Suites, one of several mid-range chain hotels near the airport, has attractive decor throughout and a number of freebies, including a hot breakfast, self-parking, and shuttle service. Rooms have kitchenettes with fridges, microwaves, stovetops, and sinks, and many rooms have separate living rooms -- all of which helps explain this property's slightly higher price point. There's also an outdoor heated pool and Jacuzzi, open seasonally. The nearby Holiday Inn Express Suites and Hyatt Place Albuquerque Airport both have contemporary decor and (usually) lower rates, but neither have rooms with full kitchenettes, and the Hyatt Place lacks a Jacuzzi.
Staybridge Suites Albuquerque North

Staybridge Suites Albuquerque North Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The business- and family-friendly Staybridge Suites Albuquerque North nicely fits into the expectations of a mid-range chain hotel, with a few extra perks. The free Wi-Fi, spacious and clean rooms, guest laundry, free breakfast, and large kitchenettes are all nice amenities -- especially for extended stays. The fitness center is open 24 hours, and there's a nice picnic and BBQ grilling area out back. The market is handy for grabbing snacks, and the free evening appetizers (three days a week) is a nice addition. However, the nearby Holiday Inn Express Suites offers nearly the same amenities and nicer rooms at a lower price point.
Residence Inn Albuquerque North

Residence Inn Albuquerque North Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Residence Inn Albuquerque North is a mid-range option offering more space than its competitors. Rooms are ideal for business travelers and families, with full kitchens, dining areas, work desks, and living rooms. Inviting interior spaces have a clean, modern look and are complete with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Additional perks include a heated pool and basketball/tennis court. Located in north Albuquerque, this hotel is a great pick for the annual Balloon Fiesta held nearby. While some guests complain about slow Internet speeds or highway noise, this amenities-packed hotel offers good value.
Hampton Inn Albuquerque - University/Midtown

Hampton Inn Albuquerque - University/Midtown Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The mid-range Hampton Inn Albuquerque-University/Midtown offers inexpensive rooms and a convenient location. This central Albuquerque hotel had a facelift in 2010, giving the big lobby and 131 rooms a modern feel. Convenient freebies include Wi-Fi, parking, and a hot breakfast. There are also some perks on offer such as 32-inch flat-screen TVs, an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, and a fitness center. While there is some space to lounge by the pool, the bland hotel grounds aren't the most pleasant backdrop for swimming and sunbathing.
