The Westin Buckhead Atlanta

The Westin Buckhead Atlanta Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Westin Buckhead is a fairly typical upper-level chain hotel suitable for business or pleasure travelers. The whole place is a bit dated, but appearances aside, it ticks all the boxes a large four-pearl hotel should -- with a few unexpected extras, including free car service within two miles. The heated indoor pool is lovely, though it is adjacent to a rather sad and empty sunbathing deck. The club lounge has a reputation for being one of the best in the chain, and it is spacious and more modern looking than the rest of the hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious but bland. For the average guest, the Westin Buckhead is an adequate, not-so-extraordinary chain hotel.
Twelve Centennial Park

Twelve Centennial Park Rating: 3.5 Pearls

This upper-middle-range property is a high-rise with 102 condominium-style rooms that are each outfitted with full kitchens and writing desks. The hotel prides itself on a high level of tech functionality, and the in-room computers have software that allows for ordering room service and other requests. The property is centrally located in downtown Atlanta, within walking distance of the financial district and a number of attractions, and is situated across the street from public transit. There have been a few complaints about malfunctions with the room keycard system, and some rooms can be noisy due to highway proximity.
The Westin Peachtree Plaza

The Westin Peachtree Plaza Rating: 3.5 Pearls

This gigantic upper-middle-range downtown hotel, with just over 1,000 rooms, is situated in one of the five tallest buildings in Atlanta and offers spectacular views from its rotating rooftop restaurant, pool, and some guest rooms. The downtown location is within a short drive (or somewhat lengthy, but doable, walk) of nearby attractions including the Georgia Dome and World of Coca Cola, making the hotel a hub of activity and popular site for conferences and celebrations. Rooms have an apartment-like feel, all with floor-to-ceiling windows, and some with spectacular views of the city. However, there is some degree of nickel-and-diming (for example, for Wi-Fi), and the giant property makes for a somewhat impersonal experience.
Holiday Inn Atlanta-Perimeter/Dunwoody

Holiday Inn Atlanta-Perimeter/Dunwoody Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This large corporate hotel with 250 guest rooms, situated in Atlanta’s edge city of Dunwoody, largely attracts business travelers with its many on-site meeting spaces and proximity to a number of corporate parks. It is less suited to Atlanta tourists, given that downtown is about an hour’s ride on public transportation. However, the hotel runs a free shuttle service for locations within a five-mile radius, including the nearest MARTA station a mile east. Renovated in 2013, the hotel does have some design-oriented touches in the lobby, but the pool and certain room elements feel old. Guest rooms have modern, corporate-style furnishings, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-FI. There have been reports of bedbugs at the property.
Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown

Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 501-room Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown is a big hotel conveniently located in midtown, about a mile from downtown Atlanta. A number of restaurants and attractions such as the Children's Museum and Georgia Aquarium are within a 15-minute walk. Recent ownership changes and renovations have resulted in some variability in quality across the rooms; some are worn out with damaged carpets, while other rooms are spacious and more modern. There is a fitness center, rooftop pool, and lobby bar all on-site, but some guests have complained about Wi-Fi reliability and traffic noise in the rooms.
Hyatt Place Atlanta/Buckhead

Hyatt Place Atlanta/Buckhead Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Hyatt Place Atlanta's lobby is best described as "Starbucks chic," with warm colors and a prominent 24-hour cafe. Rooms are large and contemporary (if not quite stylish) and all have separate living areas and 42-inch flat-screen TVs. The Buckhead location is convenient for travelers with business in the area, and freebies (breakfast, Wi-Fi, self-parking) add value -- but it's far (10 minutes by car) from popular tourist attractions.
HYATT house Atlanta/Cobb Galleria

HYATT house Atlanta/Cobb Galleria Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Tourists and business travelers seeking a long-term stay will find plenty of comforts at the mid-range Hyatt house Atlanta/Cobb Galleria. Guests can hang out at cozy seating nooks in the lobby, have a cocktail at the lobby bar, or gather around the fire pit on the chic outdoor patio. The 149 spacious rooms and apartment-style suites are modern, minimalist, and well-equipped; at minimum, each has a couch, microwave, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker, and suites have full kitchens. The property offers some convenient features: free daily breakfast, a 24-hour market with snacks, and a 24-hour gym. The suburban property sits beside the interstate not far from downtown Cumberland and near a number of prominent company offices. While the immediate surroundings are not easily walkable, the hotel offers a shuttle service for trips to nearby restaurants and the subway for downtown Atlanta access.
Wingate by Wyndham Atlanta/Buckhead

Wingate by Wyndham Atlanta/Buckhead Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 101 rooms in this mid-range suburban hotel situated just north of downtown Atlanta have a warm, homey atmosphere through the inclusion of wood laminate floors and earth-tone wall colors. Guest rooms generally get high marks for cleanliness and bed comfort in particular. The property is situated about 40 minutes via public transportation (or a 15 minutes' drive) from downtown Atlanta, with MARTA bus access within two blocks; the hotel also provides a free stretch limo shuttle service within a three-mile radius. Extra perks like free cookies at the reception desk and free newspapers in the morning are nice touches, along with the free continental breakfast. There's a small but pleasant outdoor pool surrounded by leafy trees and shrubbery, with some lounge chairs on the deck.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Atlanta Airport West - Camp Creek

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Atlanta Airport West - Camp Creek Rating: 2.5 Pearls

Built in 2010, the 102 rooms here get high marks from guests for cleanliness, and the staff receives strong praise for service. Situated about 12 minutes from the Atlanta airport in a suburban area, the property is particularly popular with business travelers coming to the handful of nearby corporate parks, as well as Atlanta locals taking advantage of the Park, Stay & Go feature that combines overnight stays with extended parking privileges. The hotel sits at the end of a shopping mall, so while it is about an hour via public transportation (or 20-minute drive) from the downtown area, it is convenient to a good number of shops and restaurants.
