InterContinental Buenos Aires

InterContinental Buenos Aires Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The InterContinental is a beautiful upscale hotel that attracts numerous business travelers due to its business-friendly amenities and location near government buildings. Every detail of the hotel impresses, from the open marble lobby to the pristine spa to the spacious rooms. Rooms are understated and sophisticated, featuring dark wood furniture, large marble bathrooms, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs. The hotel features a popular international restaurant and two bars, but the most noteworthy amenities are the gorgeous spa, chic indoor pool, and huge, modern fitness center; unfortunately, accessing those facilities requires an additional fee. For business travelers, there are 15 meeting rooms and a staffed business center. Though some feel that the Montserrat neighborhood is not particularly tourist-friendly (it can get eerily quiet on weekends), the InterContiental is a top-notch choice in the area.

CasaSur Art Hotel

CasaSur Art Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

On an attractive, tree-lined street in the La Recoleta neighborhood, the CasaSur Art Hotel is a luxe, boutique property with 36 rooms. Decor is sleek with modern furniture and dark hardwood floors. Comfortable rooms have thoughtful touches of technology, including iPod docks and wall-mounted flat-screen TVs. While bathrooms are relatively small, they are sophisticated with marble vanities and glass walk-in showers. The highlight of CasaSur is an upscale spa complete with Jacuzzi, and the hotel also offers its own restaurant serving food inspired by India and the Mediterranean.

Sofitel Buenos Aires

Sofitel Buenos Aires Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 173-room Sofitel is a luxury option in the Retiro neighborhood, sitting on a tree-lined street within walking distance of several sights as well as the Retiro station. The stately lobby makes a striking first impression: It has a high glass ceiling, black-and-white tiling, and elegant chandeliers. Rooms are also stately, with attractive artwork, thick curtains, marble bathrooms featuring separate showers and tubs, and classic blue and gold decor -- but some may find the look a bit staid. Due to its location and its numerous meeting rooms, the Sofitel attracts a lot of business travelers, but most tourists will be happy here, too -- especially considering the hotel's attractive pool, fitness center, and restaurant and bar. The only thing missing is a spa.

Vista Sol Buenos Aires Design Hotel

Vista Sol Buenos Aires Design Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Vista Sol is a simple, modern property almost feels more like a complex of urban studio apartments than a mid-size, mid-price hotel. The standard rooms are small, but the sophisticated, minimalistic design leaves a surprising amount of useful space. The hotel has little more than a small fitness center and sauna, plus a basic restaurant, but it is clean and centrally located to tourist attractions and the city's business center. Overall it's a nice value -- in this city, it's easy to pay a lot more for a lot less.

Hotel Bys Palermo

Hotel Bys Palermo Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 57-room boutique has a modern vibe characterized by minimalist furnishings, few adornments, and a neutral color scheme punched up by pops of color. Sun-drenched rooms feel airy and bright, thanks to large windows that let in lots of natural light. Luxe touches include wet bars, large flat-screen TVs, and sleek bathrooms (featuring bidets and shower/tub combos). Outside of the guest rooms, however, everything here feels compact -- from the small fitness center to the tiny outdoor pool. The hotel's location in an upscale residential neighborhood makes for a tranquil setting, but may feel too far from the tourist sights for some guests.

Elevage Buenos Aires Hotel

Elevage Buenos Aires Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This mid-range business hotel stands out only for its ultra-convenient location on the northern side of downtown Buenos Aires. Adequate rooms are large and bright, but have dated decor and feel very bare bones. Business rooms are newer with a more contemporary -- although decidedly masculine -- decor and offer nice perks such as stylish glass-enclosed bathrooms and LG sound systems. The outdoor swimming pool is a plus, and great freebies -- a solid breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and parking -- add to the value.

Savoy Hotel

Savoy Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This gorgeous, stately building resides in the city's financial and political center, just minutes away from Congress and presidential offices. What sets the Savoy apart from other hotels is its classic appearance combined with modern flair. The shiny marble lobby features high ceilings, accentuated by a bright red chandelier and plush red chairs. The stunning lobby bar showcases tall pillars with ornate gold details and crystal chandeliers. The hotel's rooms are contemporary, with wood floors, dramatic headboards, and bold pops of color (though some units, such as the Corner Suite, have classic decor). Each room offers clean, contemporary bathrooms with walk-in showers and rainfall fixtures. The Savoy welcomes all kinds of guests, but it's particularly popular with couples and business travelers (who can make use of the 10 meeting rooms on the property).

Ayres De Libertad

Ayres De Libertad Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 30 apartment-style rooms in the Ayres de Libertad utilize space fantastically without sacrificing an attractive modern aesthetic. Studios offer plenty of wall storage, stocked kitchenettes, polished marble bathrooms, and balconies; some units have courtyard views, but other views are lousy. Common areas feel more cramped, with the indoor swimming pool and tiny fitness area dropped into one section of the lobby. Despite the lack of spread out common space, this sleek and modern hotel offers a convenient location in Recoleta and free breakfast is delivered to rooms each morning.

Melia Buenos Aires Hotel

Melia Buenos Aires Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The centrally located Melia Buenos Aires hotel offers 209 generically decorated rooms. Flat-screen TVs and large bathrooms are the perks here, and suites are especially spacious with big work desks and cozy chairs. The extensive business center suggests that this hotel caters to business travelers, but there are many amenities for leisure travelers too, including a small spa, indoor pool, and fitness center. This clean and comfortable hotel makes a good first impression with its polished lobby and four restaurant options.

725 Continental Hotel

725 Continental Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 725 Continental Hotel was built in 1927 and features a dramatic Art Deco exterior. Inside, however, the vibe is modern and minimalist, with sleek furnishings and a neutral color palette punched up by pops of color throughout. Most of the 192 guest rooms are spacious, and all include dark hardwood floors, marble bathrooms, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Freebies include Wi-Fi and a daily breakfast buffet. Highlights include a tiny terrace solarium and two restaurants that serve local specialties in chic surroundings. The hotel also offers a prime downtown location that is convenient, but might be too noisy for some guests.
